Yes. Considering you would have to pay $9K + TTL I would take the money and run.

BTW, how much money are we talking anyway?

I'm sure a tax expert can explain why, but the whole thing sounds fishy when you have to pay 25% income tax to the school prior to receiving your "prize". I can understand the TTL but anything else seems like it should be the responsibility of the school!! Being a non-profit organization, they probably are not paying taxes on their share anyway. PLUS this year they don't even have the Car in hand...it's a certificate to order one.

Yes, that is why I didn't buy a raffle ticket.

That's a nice down payment on a Camaro right there! But wait... was this before taxes were taken out or after?

I entered a raffle for a 2010 Camaro a month ago. It was basically the same as this one but with a 2LT. 3000 tickets max at $25 per ticket. I bought four. Didn't win but I still had really good odds. Would have had better odds if the wife would have let me max out my credit card! But noooooooooooooo....

You always have to pay a stupid tax on things like this. Look up the oprah episode where she gives the entire audience a car.

The car was about 28.5k MSRP and the members had to pay 7k in taxes for the car.
