Mine just started doing this at 1000 miles. I made an appointment for Tuesday. Ugh! One would think by now word would have reached the production line about this issue.SMH

Confirmation that 2018's still have this issue.

What kind of company just says "Awe f - it!" to loose, clunking sway bars, year after year, unit after unit.

Disgusting

Even Louis Chevrolet is pissed off!

bbb
"Why are my sway bars still clunking?" LC

Instead of waiting 'til Tuesday, I took the car in for service this morning. The tech said that the fix for this is to replace and retorque the end link nuts but they have no nuts in stock. So they put on locktite and torqued the nuts. The noise is gone though!!

I now seem to be having this issue as well. First noticed it about two months ago. Brought it to the dealership and they said I had a strut not seated properly. I mentioned the TSB for the sway bar but they didn't tighten them then. Went on my way and the noise was gone for about a week. Came back even worse after that.

Brought it into the same dealership and mentioned the TSB again. They didn't even acknowledge it. Said they didn't hear anything and gave me the car back.

Went to a different dealership yesterday first thing in the morning. They heard the noise and tightened the sway bars per the TSB. Was good after that until I hit a rough patch of road when going out for dinner later last night... I heard a slight tap sound when pulling back into the driveway that night.

Now the noise is back when pulling out of the driveway and over speed bumps this morning.

I also notice the sound slightly when starting from a stop at a red light.

I'm at a loss... Going to take it to one of the shops around here that are hopefully more competent than GM and have them check all/most of the suspension.

It's maddening...

Edit: I'm going to buy the nordlock washers and loctite. It looks like I could perform this myself. Maybe learn something during the process and not have to rely on GM to fix simple things that shouldn't be an issue in the first place.

Have those been proven to fix the problem?

FYI, looks like there is an update to the service bulletin. They are now requiring replacement of the nuts instead of just re-torquing them as well as requiring locktight. I was told at the dealer today that it might be 1-2 weeks before the parts arrive because they are coming from a 3rd party vendor and not GM. Uhg. Perhaps these new nuts will prevent them from coming loose again though? The torque specs are also different than the previous bulletin. Here is a copy of the new bulletin (updated 09/15/17).

Its now PIC6276B:

Excellent solution. Hey - GM - Nordlock washers! Be sure to use brake cleaner on all threads before loctite application.

Very cool part.

But know they are relying only on loctite and proper torque on a lock-nut to secure the fasteners.

Add Nordlock washers for better reliability.

The new nut in the above posted bulletin P/N 11548382 MAY solve this too.

GM's paying 24 minutes of labor from get the car to park the car for this operation.

Hmm. I just had them do the re-torque yesterday and it’s already making noise again. I doubt they did this one. :/

I wonder if I provided them the washers if they’d put them on... Probably not.

They probably didn't give you new nuts.?. P/N 11548382 Of course GM paying techs 24 minutes total labor doesn't help either.

According to the invoice I got it says they just retorqued them. I’ll probably call my service advisor and see it they’re aware of the updated TSB.

I fixed my post from earlier. Not sure why my photos disappeared. You can see the TSB now.

Just had the new nuts installed this morning per the updated TSB. The clunk is gone! Now let’s hope it stays that way.

Such a relief to have that noise gone...was driving me bonkers on my new ZL1 with only 500 miles.

This is crap GM. At least GM could do is tell us what happen?? Bad supplier stuff, assembly line mess up or total incompetence from GM on design and testing. Or worse yet, let them go out with know problem while we work on a fix?
