I've listened to the interview several times now....hoping that by doing so it comes true at Daytona ......and every time I do I simply can't believe the dipstick doing the interview goes from an answer of "we are going to be making some news in Daytona to extend the lineup of the Camaro..." to a question of "I'd like to talk about the backup Camaro screen...."
Seriously? What a dipstick. I'll be at COTA next weekend with my Z/28 and will be checking the forum between sessions to see if another Camaro makes the news!!

We do not know any firm details yet. So, I will hold any judgement until full details are revealed. I personally am excited and waiting on hearing what the new Z/28 has to offer. For me, if it had a 7.0L N/A engine, around 600hp, atleast 150lb less than Zl1, and priced slightly above current ZL1 (no more than 3k), then that might be something to consider. Not saying any of this will happen, but one can hope. Perhaps Chevy learned their lesson from last time about pricing the 5th Gen Z/28 really high. And of course, the styling while unique to Z/28, I expect to be on par if not better than the new ZL1. The ZL1 styling in my opinion looks awesome already.
Also, how cool would it be if the new Z/28 was revealed as a pace car during the race. I think that would be cool compared to the normal event where the cover is removed at a car show. Last edited by h777; 02-21-2017 at 03:50 PM. |

Key here is the price. No way Chevy/GM is going to price the potential Z28 in the mid 70's like the last one, which had $25k+ off in the end just to get rid of them.

That is the hope. My thinking is why not price it around what the ZL1 is? Give the consumers a choice if they want a track monster (Z/28) or an all around car like the ZL1. I could see such a scenario where somebody buys a fun weekend car. For those, why not consider a Z/28? Have your fun for a few hours and come back home. Whereas, those of us who daily drive their car and want something a little more comfortable, then the ZL1 is perfect.

Carbon Brakes $$$ Maybe more carbon body parts $$$ no back seats, no stereo, strip out some sound deadening, spoon on some sticky tires, it will be a track monster, but it won't be cheap |

Look for the car to be priced north of 80K if its an all out track car, if its a Z28 it will be in the 50K range, hope its the track monster we hope it is.

I don't think the Z/28 needs to be a $50k car because the 1LE and ZL1 already sit around there and are very track capable cars. To get more performance requires more money.

There's another thought to ponder, here....
I truly believe a ZL1 with carbon brakes and sticky tires would best a Z06/Z07, or at the very least...keep up with it around a track...for about $25,000 cheaper. That's insane. With rumors of the Corvette going mid-engined and (presumably) higher-priced...could they be preparing to position some expensive Camaro models (ZL1, Z/28) in the gap that puts in the Chevy price range? A Camaro will never "be a Corvette"...I'm not so naive as to suggest that...but it will be the "affordable" alternative to a 100k+ Chevy supercar.....IF all that comes to pass. |

I wasn't necessarily replying to you. Just commenting that the Camaro line up is pretty full and covers a wide range of performance. It's just missing the track monster, and that will be more money.
