Track performance predictions between the Corvette and Camaro Line ups

Here is mine:

Track
SS both < Corvette both < Corvette Z51 both < Camaro 1LE Manual only < Camaro ZL1 both < Corvette GS both < Camaro Z/28 both < Corvette z06 both

What do you think?

1/4 mile will be all over the place because of auto and manual variances. I do think the ZL1 auto will be right below the z06 auto and the 1LE will be just as fast as the z51 manual.

Can't really even guess without knowing the engine or other basic specs of what the car is going to be like. A 'super ZL1' would be a very different car than a high strung small displacement reincarnation of the 1st gen Trans Am racer.

I'd say the C7 Z51 is a hair faster than a 6th gen 1LE.

as stated.... until we know what kind of engine the Z28 has.... hard to peg it....

but if i were a betting man... and the Z28 is about 530 hp.... 3650 weight...

Grandsport<Z/28< Grandsport with Z07 package....

and then your fall into what kind of track.... a tighter track favours the Gransport...

Z/28 will be the fastest of them all. It is a dedicated track car.
I think the next wave of Z cars will be a step above the current Corvette offerings becuase they will up the corvettes next year.
They won't hold back what they have because current Corvette owners might be grumpy.

When z28 arrives I believe the grand sport will share the same motor.

The corvette will weight 200 lbs less and that will be the entire performance difference...which should be about .2 ths and 2 mph in the quarter mile.

The track times will be very close.

The zl1 with 650 hp should blow the z28 and grand sport off in acceleration.

The z06 will be top dog.

I am hopeful the corvette versions of the grand sport and z06 offer the ten speed automatic.

Need 2 plus 2 get the camaro.

Want lift off roof....and two seats..get the corvette.

Both winners

Not going into the GM protects the Corvette debate, but I firmly believe the Z06/Z07 will still be faster than the top dog Camaro.

The Z/28 and ZL1 might be faster than the Z51 and grand sport, but they won't be faster than the Z06.

I own a Z51 M7 C7. I think it will handle a 1LE but a ZL1 will eat its twinkies for sure.

I will say the 305 rear tires on the 1LE will be an advantage over the Z51 with 285's, but I don't have traction issues on decent pavement from 2nd gear on up.
Depending on pricing, Im going to be adding either a ZL1/1LE to the garage!

The Z28 will not be faster around the track than the Z06, just not gonna happen.

Are we really still thinking GM has some big surprise special new motor for the Z/28?

I think the chances are very, very slim.

I'd be surprised if the top secret mid engine Vette even got something completely new. Probably going to be a variation on the TT V6.
