Still not Happy

Yup, still not happy with my set-up. Original planed to do nothing and keep the 1LE stock.

2 years ago got the engine forged to accept a 200 shot of NOS. What I found was happy at the track once all the set-up is prepared but not happy on the street where I don’t use NOS. So LT4 SC ported by Kong with the X stage will be going on in the not to distant future. Will add meth for the octane boost and Nitrous for the cooling/power factor. I have been laying pretty low lately to gather all the parts and finally finished getting them. Looking forward to May once the car gets back on the road. Much to do and much to enjoy the build. No rush because I have been screwing around with car for 3 years and have changed a lot of things. Two steps forward and one back it seems.

That’s ok. Keep plugging away. There’s no rule saying you can’t change your combo up anytime you want.

I promised the wifey I only needed the 2650, and just ordered port injection for E', so... yeah... Never say never. I'm fortunate (in so many ways) to have an understanding and supportive wife.

To be honest, if the modding ended, I’d be bored stiff in no time and sell the car. I wouldn’t know what to do with myself.

Unlike Josh, I'm satisfied with my car as it stands after a few rounds of mods. Okay, maybe short of a pair of resonators to tweak the exhaust tone a wee bit, but other than that, the car is perfect and I'm enjoying it.

My wife of 50 years will tell you it never ends and I was doing it 5 years before I met her, so that's 55 years of blowing well over a million dollars in cars and trucks, wouldn't even want to add it up. I've had 81 cars and trucks, it's ridiculous just on how much I've paid in sales tax to the state of Missouri in my 55 years of driving. That's just car/trucks and doesn't include the 8 boats, 5 personal watercraft, 5 motorcycles and 15 to 20 trailers. Would this be considered an addiction? This will probably be my last year of racing so I plan on buying a new Ct4-v Blackwing sometime in the next 6 months and a Tahoe 3.0 Diesel, so I'm not done yet at 71 years old. Just going to lay back and travel with my wife which we have never done since I spend money all winter to race the next year. She's decided she doesn't want to go the races anymore so I'm not going to go without her, just not that much fun traveling 330 miles round trip by myself all the time. I've said this before but it's probably time to end the legacy of Laynlo's drag racing addiction. Someone is going to get a really fast street car when I decide to sell it this year.

You’re 10 years ahead of me. This is probably my last build and it’s a keeper to the end and one of the kids or grandkids can have it. So I am throwing a lot money at it till I get it right. It’s a hobby and an addiction.

Good thinking, I wished I'd done things a little different sometimes, but I wouldn't do too much different. A few car and trucks I've bought I wish I hadn't, oh well I'm still happy.

I've been racing and modding cars for 20 years now.
Lots of $ spent

I've taken a year or two off every now and then when something broke really badly and I got burned out.

It's really hard to not think about it because cats have become so much faster over the years

12 second quarter mile used to be fast now cars are running 10's with bolt ons

I agree cars have gotten much faster, but these 6th gen SS cars are not running 10's with bolt-ons full weight in street trim. 20 years ago we didn't strip our street cars down to run a track number. We took pride in how the car looked along with how it performed. The lines of what is now considered a street car is heavily skewed. Laynlo showed us just how much of a difference even a full drag pack makes on a car vs the factory wheels. Now remove the seats, drop the exhaust, mower battery, drag brakes, remove aero, lower bumper cover, crash bar, sway bar...etc and you just dropped a second off your 1/4 time vs full weight street trim.

Running 10's with bolt-ons with full weight in street trim is possible with race rubber, tune and bottle fed. B&R Performance proved that long time ago on a Camaro 1SS....

Running 10's with a bolt-ons and a power adder is easy as pie. I was referencing NA only cars.
