Transportation From Factory

Looking at the satellite view, it seems that the rail ramps in Lansing are no longer used. One line has even been paved over, and there is no clear link to the railyard any more.

Are they now trucking 100% of the vehicles from Lansing? Or is there a second railyard they move them to before loading?

Wow good call. I found a railyard in Toledo (right next to the FCA Toledo plant for some reason) that has a ton (~125) of Camaros in it. Definitely cant be Challengers/Chargers because there are convertibles in there. Maybe GM bean counters found it was cheaper to truck them there than operate their own railyard.

Also certainly in use for the bulk of the Camaros, thanks!

Wonder why there are still a fair number going to Toledo. Maybe a different rail connection that serves a different part of the country.

Very strange that they wouldn't use there own railyard still, maybe this has something to do with the delayed shipping times now

I could not agree more. Many other reasons not to like GM. Wish Corvette and Camaro had a separate performance division with some autonomy.

The size of the trees in the Lansing Grand River rail yard imply that it hasn’t been used for years. Lansing Delta is less than 10 miles away from Lansing Grand River and appears to have Camaros sitting in the rail yard parking lot. Maybe GM consolidated rail yard operations in the past?

It is just a satellite image, so I have no idea how old it is. Though the abundance of greenery nearby suggests months+ old.
