Low Maintenance Cam
Want to add some chop and top end to my SS 1LE, understanding I’ll lose some low end..
This is a daily driver with 57k miles and I don’t want to be changing valve springs frequently. I‘m looking at cams under .6” lift like these: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/nal-19303897 https://cammotion.com/gen-5-lt-camsh...218-228-114-5/ Pairing that with an MSD IM, ZR1 TB, and new OEM valve springs would I be good with basic maintenance for the next 40k? Are further upgrades required? Or is what I’m looking for unattainable.. |

Lift will not determine valvetrain durability. You need to go with a valvetrain package that has been verified to be stable.

Yes that is attainable. Most would be surprised at the little difference in power between .550 and .600 lift on stock heads and induction.
Now if you were going max effort race setup with lots of RPM, ported Hi ram and what not then big lift maximizes gains. So moral of the story is I like your approach and it should work fine for a street car that gets driven daily.

Cam Motion cams have lobes which typically are easier on the valve train. I would contact Cam Motion for a recommendation and let them spec out a cam for you.

I suggest calling a company like Katech to discuss your goals, so they can spec a turn key package for you. There are alot of variables to consider when mixing and matching valve-train components. Other items to consider while the motor is out... 1. Katech Oil Pump Upgrade 2. Katech VVT and DoD Delete Covers 3. Katech C5R Chain 4. LME Dog Bone Chain Guide 5. Sending your heads Katech for porting and assembly. Food for thought.
