Question for you riders on throttle rockets

I'm thinking of getting one of these. Dealerships are closed on Sundays but what can you guys help me with concerning these bikes?

I know we have riders here.

Have you ever ridden before ? If not that is the wrong bike for you. A 1000cc is expert level. Sweet looking bike for sure.

Yup dirt bikes in the sand dunes in Yuma, lots of Harley's, but one of these no.

Do you think maybe a 600RR would be best?

You can kill yourself on the smallest bike out there. The key is knowing your limits.

It's not the size of the bike it's the power. I used to race these and believe me you will NEVER use the all the power of a R-1 ETC, you will be just fine with the power an R-6(if you cant tell im YAMAHA to the core)they are plenty fast.

I have a ZX-6 and have had it for about 14 years, very reliable and super fun, a 1000cc may get you into big trouble fast if you're pointed in the wrong direction and grab some throttle! Something to work into I would say, I would have a 1000 now if I hadn't caught the Camaro bug a few years ago, LOL

You would fit on a 250 pretty comfortably. Get one and sell it once you get comfortable.

I've owned a few bikes. But after my cruiser I bought a cbr 1000rr. It's all about personal limits. If your going to be an idiot on a 1000 you'll be an idiot on a 600. Both are dangerous. Just know you can't slam the throttle open and know your limits. Take your time. If you can take a training course On the bike you buy.

What year are you looking at buying? I think the 08-10 had oil consumption issues.

A CBR250R. Might as well start out right and go big when I build the confidence,

The 600 has plenty of power to kill you. Get the 1000.. look at how many V6 guys later loose money to up grade to the V8 they always regret not getting the V8 as they drive the V6 and begin to hate it just because it's not the big dog. Get the 1000.

If you've got the money go ahead and buy the one at the dealership. But if you are planning on upgrading I'd look on local classifieds and find a small bike to learn on. A lot of people buy small bikes with plans to upgrade so you can normally find a low mile low power bike and save a few grand. I personally would never buy a dealership vehicle that I plan on getting rid of.
