How to get the solid chassis feeling back

I have over 35,000 miles on my 2019 1SS 1LE now and it seems to have a wandering feeling and not always planted. It got way better after an alignment but I have recently test driven several ZL1’s and they felt way more stable. Could there be soft parts that are worn out? Body bushings or something that are replaceable? Or should I consider another alignment? Or am I just used to the car and it’s how it feels at the extremes? I am just used to the squirreliness under heavy braking etc. perhaps...

I have 40k miles on my 2017 1LE with a tremendous number of AutoX runs and LOTS of Track days.

If anything, my times on tracks I know is getting better. I haven't noticed any feeling of looseness or sloppiness.

My suspension is completely stock.

Did you make any tire changes lately?

I notice that when my tires got worn, they did make the car wander more than a new set of tires.

Do you track your car? How long since last alignment? How worn are your tires?

If you track your car often or it's been awhile since your last alignment I would say start there and get another alignment done. These cars don't seem to hold rear toe to save it's life. Can limit this issue with SPL rear toe arms and eccentric lock out.

You need an alignment. Check you’re tires as well. I recommend changing all 4 at once. Rear toe really likes to move like That1guy_tim said. Alignment out of wack can really make the car feel like complete poop.

what do you mean by wander?

Here is my experience...

When tires are new they have more tread squirm and are a little sloppy in quick transitions, however (once the release mold is gone) they have the best traction.

As tires wear, the sharpness/stability of them increases (because tread depth becoming less) and after a certain point they start to lose a bit of traction. For the stock Goodyear SC3 tires, they fully come in after about 1K (street driving) of wear.

Also as the front tires wear, the trampling increases.

I would suggest the rear cradle lock-out kit or the solid rear cradle bushings. This upgrade does a lot to make the rear-end razor sharp.

This feedback is fantastic. Thank you very much.

I went through 3 sets of tires and had 2 alignments last year alone. I tracked it twice. But I drive it pretty hard on the street, no, really hard. I am about to replace all 4 rotors.

I am looking at cradle bushings, leaning toward delrin. And the rear toe links seem like a great idea. So I think an alignment will be in order, perhaps after the next set of tires.

+1, especially since they were roughly the same price as the BMR lockout kit last time I checked.

The main difficulty compared to the lockout kit is installation, but as per others who experienced both, the lockout kit only goes ~90% of the way.

OP, if you decide to go with the cradle lockout kit you will need the alignment checked again because the install still requires the removal of all the cradle bolts and things may shift alittle.

I have done the BMR cradle lockout mod on my car and will say it improves rear end stability, but I mostly noticed this on track when pushing the car, specifically at corner exit.

An accurate alignment with good tires should take care of your problem, the lockout kit will just improve the feel slightly.

All good points above. Also check all suspension bolts for proper tightening. This is overlooked. Proper torqued bolts can make a big difference.
