i've made sure to mark mine and will return to check in a few thousand miles. I've tightened them on other gm products before with good success. Will report back!

Not to my knowledge but there certainly should be as it seems like many have loose axle nuts

I too have had success in other similar situations but will add it to the things I check at oil change time just in case.

My ancient 36mm socket happens to be a 12pt and it fit snugly.
But as Redlinez said, if you are going to purchase one definitely get a 6pt.

So this really helps tighten up some of the excessive backlash/play/looseness in the drivetrain? I'm trying to see how this would eliminate that as the CV shaft will be splined in anyway?

I am going to check mine tomorrow and report back if they are loose or not.

What happens if they get loose and you don't know it? Any symptoms?

Any legit documentation on the internet I can copy and take to my dealer to show I'm not BS'ing him on having it checked. My car is still in warranty. (extended).

I had a warranty claim for this issue a couple years ago. They claimed the noise was 'corrosion on the axles', but my suspicion is the nut was loose. Here we are in the present and the exact noise has reappeared, along with a bit of drivetrain slop. Car is far out of warranty now, but at least it should be an easy fix. I'm sure the dealership didn't replace the nut, and if it's TTY then that would explain why it backed off again. I will look into replacement for both sides just in case.
