I agree. Being exposed to the weather for 2 months shouldn't cause corrosion like this. There's something going on leading up to assembly or immediately after.

If it were just a couple parts, I'd assume the stock of these parts were simply exposed to weather for months prior to assembly. Some parts were way worse than others, but I don't think a single part on the underside of this car was in as good or better shape than my current ZL1.

I think I could spray my car with saltwater and store it in a warm swamp and it wouldn't look that bad in 2 months.

I sent an email to the Camaro team's quality manager with a link to this thread. Although, it seems some people are okay with purchasing new cars in poor condition. So maybe the Camaro team is simply counting on those people to buy up all of the defective cars.

I had put a deposit on a 2015 1LE. When I backed out of the deal due to information they hadn't disclosed the salesguy tried to chew me out. I wasn't about to call them again for my deposit so I just cancelled the charge on my AMEX.

Oxidation

Travis;
I totally agree with your expectations. I checked my engine bay on the ZL1 and it looks similar to your ZL1 with minimal oxidation. However, I had a similar problem with my 2010 2SS/RS. It seems the aluminum/metal should be treated with some sort of compound. Have you ever heard of KROWN rust proofing? Pennsylvania can have some harsh winters and I have used this product with success. If I can help you please let me know.

Some of those parts make it look like your car was stored on an ocean shoreline for a while.

It's a good thought, but since I didn't buy it I'm sure it wouldn't apply.

I'll get my money. They have no idea who they're dealing with. They probably think I'll just cut my losses. Like I've said before I don't care what I have to spend to get it back. I have the money and time to fight it.
That's right brother. I know you did not buy it, but thought it might be a good way to try out the suspension before telling them to shove it up their ass.

Replace badge with ZL1 1LE LOL!

Thanks!

I haven't heard of KROWN, but I'll check them out.

Yeah. I know. I can't imagine what's going on prior to delivery to the dealership, but it makes me very nervous about ordering any new vehicles.

BBB compliant filed. Usually these are a waste of time, but I already had the details written up, and it only takes a moment to submit one.

I think the CC dispute will take care of it. The exchange of goods did not take place, nor do they have my signature on anything. I think that's case closed.

If the dealership fights back at all I won't hesitate to hire an attorney. I don't tolerate crap like this.

That's a terrible situation. I had a similar one, with a $1K deposit for a Camaro that never made it to production code 2000. I did get my money back, though it took about an hour and the salesman sweated a gallon.

Your case looks one sided in your favor, good luck for what its worth.

Yes, in every instance I've had to use them, the CC companies were very aggressive. Contest the charge, let the CC do the rest.
