Regardless of how fast an EV is, no one turns their head when a Tesla drives by. No so when a big block muscle car is within ear shot, everyone takes notice of those big pistons pounding air and fuel into horse power, and that loping cam opening those big valves to gulp in fuel and dump waste into big pipes. Love or hate it, no one ignores it. EV's with their silent electric motors and giant batteries are fast, but it's a boring and sterile disconnect of man and machine. A soulless electric device. There's no hood to open to marvel at the mechanical beauty and love that went into it's creation, and no one smiles when you flip a switch to connect a battery to a motor. Park a Tesla next to a 72 SS 454 four speed Chevelle, open the hood and see how many people look at the Tesla. An EV will never be a muscle car. You cant modify it, you cant work on it, fathers sons daughters wives and friends can't bond over creating or working on it, And I don't know if you have ever been to an EV car show, but I have, and it's one of the most depressing and pathetic "automotive" events I have ever witnessed.

Able to annihilate the competition to the end of the 1320
Other than sound – what does the PLAID miss?
It has crappy breaking, heavy as hell, massive power, cannot turn a corner; kills the competition in the 1320, AMERICAN MADE!!!

EV a "Muscle Car"?

As varied and unclear as the definition of a classic muscle car or a modern muscle car may be, you still know one when you see one (and hear one).

An EV ain't it and never will be.

Agreed. A muscle car is loud, borderline obnoxious. You feel the engine rumble. You smell it burning sweet gasoline.

It doesn't matter an EV with enough power and the right tuning can win the race. When all we've got are EV at the strip, the stands will be empty.

Yep. Old timers will be hiding their ICE vehicles in their uncle's barn, brewing biofuel in stills and trying to elude the eyes and the air cars.

This reasoning is similar to the idea that a turd can be picked up by the clean end.

This has already been happening with ICE cars for decades. There is no difference.....OTHER than practically nothing can be done to alter the vehicle's drivetrain. You want to change paint, swap wheels, tweak the suspension / brakes....sure! You want to add another 100 HP yourself? Nope.

I'm not trying to be rude but I think this is a little out of touch. Truthfully if you are trying to turn heads your best bet would be a model S with some wheels and a tint. Maybe not at a car show, but most folks are going to be more impressed with one those cars that rappers talk about, and unlike the exotics, the hippie folks are more likely to be impressed by the Tesla as well.

Just give it time. I know a few people who are already hot roding them and putting the power plant in various other cars. The younger generation will have to leverage more of their electrical skills, but soon that will be common knowledge, just like all the complicated mechanical know how we've managed to make common place E.G. boring, stroking, forced induction, chemical additives etc.
