LT1 Engine issues poll

Just trying to grasp the significance of some of the stories floating around here:

I have 2400 miles - no issues but knocking on wood.

just passed 12,000 miles. Engine is a beast and doesn't consume oil between 3 month (~3,000 mile) change interval.

I had a 16'1ss a8 with 8000 miles without any issues or oil consumption.
Now I have 5000 miles on my 17' 2ss 6m without any issues at all.

All car makes/types will have sporadic cases of failures or issues reported but the majority will run fine if properly maintained any not excessively abused.

The poll speaks for itself. No one complains when things are running good, but the few people who have issues are loud

I'm not certain 1/10 with either major or minor engine issues is a good poll considering there are also appears to be drive-line issues going on as well.

14k miles, no issues. Checked axle bolts, checked oil pan, and listen to engine carefully on every startup.

Knocking on wood, I think this car will last 150k before I tear the engine and transmission apart and do a full refresh. Including media blasting the carbon buildup. Won't run an aftermarket catch can since they are illegal in CA, and void powertrain warranty.

I had no issues on my 5.3 AFM till about 40-50,000. Then major oil burn. Always lifter or piston slap noise. 80,000 now. I'm Seeing a few AFM failures (lifters) in my friends shop. They are at about 80-110,000. 6.2s with AFM only started in '14 models like trucks and Vetts. So we will see how they weather.

IF you are running with AFM active, I would not make this a long term car. UNLESS, you are ok with a repair down the line to change out the cam and lifters,. If it does not take the entire engine out. Not even sure how non-active AFM components hold up?
