No Waze Audio with Apple CarPlay

The Waze audio when connecting via Apple CarPlay just suddenly stopped working. I don't think it's my phone, the cable, or CarPlay. I get audio on my phone when it isn't connected, and I get audio if I use Google Maps. I thought it might be the app, but after updating to the current version, still no audio. Anyone else experiencing this? If so, have you been able to fix it?

Make sure the sounds aren’t off in the settings of your Waze app.

I made no changes to anything, neither to phone nor infotainment system. The audio just stopped working. Then yesterday, the audio came back...without making any changes.
