Temp Guage Drops, Fans On Full
Im having a problem where my temperature guage will drop all the way to zero, the fans will run on high (sounds like a fighter jet taking off) and the Rev-match will turn off. I've had my engine temperature sensor replaced and my mechanic has traced the wires and hasn't found any that are worn or broken. Randomly the temperature will start reading again, usually on the highway driving a consistent speed. It will last a day or two reading the temperature and the problem will start again for a day or two. It's a repeating cycle that is getting out of hand. Has anyone had this problem before?

There are several threads on this issue. I've experienced it myself. For me, replacing the thermostat fixed the problem. Others have replaced the temp sensor.

Temp sensor forsure, I have had it happen when arriving at a hockey game and car's fan just kept running after I turned car off. Luckily I had my nguage as the sensor throws a code (non CEL), cleared it and temp gauge read correct and fans shut off.

Yep. Temp sensor and thermostat will fix it. Do them both at once. Both are cheap and easy to change.

Clearing the stored codes on the ECU (no CEL is shown) should make the sensor work again. Thermostat seems to be the root cause.
