Source for stock ZL1 (1LE) brake pads?
Any sources apart from the dealer on the OEM brake pads? I'm actually quite fond of them on track.

Hate to give away my secret, but, for both the J6M (SS 1LE) and J6H (ZL1) pads, they have shown up (dirt) cheap at times on the forums from guys wanting to go with low dust pads. Same for the tires, both G3's and G3R's with guys wanting a more street friendly option.
I have been a hoarder, and will continue to be, for pads and tires. Hint, anyone reading this that does not want their stock ZL1 brake pads or Goodyear G3R's anymore, send me a PM or email...you can give SEANBLURR second dibs (LOL)! |

How are these pads so cheap? Last I checked, the Brembo/Ferodo's were in the $400's. Even more of a reason to continue to use them over my race pads.

The stock pads are just OK. Step up to G-LOC pads for great brake torque and decent longevity. $676 front & rear set but well worth it. JPSS online sells them.

I would say the stock pads are far beyond just ok. They have provided nearly everything I've asked and will probably double the life of the rotors compared to any real race pad. This is not to say that I won't finally start using a race pad again, but at this time I see no reason.
I've used G-Loc and currently have a set of Hawk DTC70/60's. Sure, initial bite is much better but race pads destroyed my calipers. Caliper temps were nearly 200 degrees hotter with race pads. Melted all the piston seals and discolored the calipers. Stock pads don't get nearly that hot, so my calipers are holding strong. I'm going to try to keep the stock pads in as long as I can, but I have no hesitation going back to race pads if need be. If I can say this humbly, I'm no slouch behind the wheel either. So these pads can't be that bad...

My definition of OK wasn't clear. Maybe the inclusion of the word "just" turned the tone to "meh, OK". For stockers they are acceptable considering the performance of the ZL1. No doubt DTC 70/60 eat rotors like potato chips, and I can believe the seals could deteriorate quickly using these. I prefer the brake torque of the G-LOC pads as they are more confidence inspiring at 160mph compared to stockers. My calipers have thus far been flawless with 2K track miles at VIR. Personal preference prevails in this discussion.

Does anyone know the difference between the 1Le and ZL1 pads, are they not the same calipers on each car ?
