keep trying to tell you all he s550 is a joke.
i've driven over 3 million miles and have a good idea if a car is any good.
THE ENTIRE S550 is junk. every single aspect of it..you're sitting on the car rather than in it. then you'll find yourself bouncing all the place on anything but smooth roads.
i wouldn't have one of these things as a gift.

I mean, what exactly happened to you in your Mustang that scarred you this bad. I mean, I ragged on Mustangs in the past but I always gave them credit where it was due. You sound like something tragic happened.

Take it for what it is, but that is a very impressive number.

It is surprising that it is faster than a GT350R, but that tells me, really, is that the conditions were better the day they drove the Mach 1 compared to the GT350R 5+ years ago. If the R and Mach 1 were driven back to back by the same driver, I think the R would be a little faster. Plus, the Mach 1 has benefitted from an additional 6+ years of tire compound technology advancements.

That "conditions" topic also reminds me of the ZL1 LL time - 2:50...however, that time comes with an asterisks. The driver hit some curbing when they were setting the time in the cool morning air, bent the wheel, and by the time they replaced it later that day it was hot/warmer, and that's when they set the 2:50. The author of the ZL1 write-up said they think it had a 2:48 or possibly 2:47 in it. Just shows how much conditions affect the outcome.

Given the CT5 V Blackwing went 2:49 this year, the ZL1 should be a little quicker given it's 200+ lbs lighter, has a lower center of gravity, and on SC3 in lieu of PS4S, all which make that 2:47-2:48 sound about right.

How about that AMG GT Black series? 2:37! Awesome, awesome car. I love the cartoon like proportions of that long deck + super long dash to axle ratio, and sloping rear end. I wonder just how far the engine sits behind the front axles. The only modern front engined cars that can compete with the massive dash to axle ratio is the Viper and probably Ferrari 812 Superfast and those have more cylinders. The C7 Corvette Z06 dash to axle is a little less extreme. That said, I'm very curious how the C8 Z06 will do next year...

It has to be the conditions and tire compound. A 3900+ lbs parts bin car faster than its 3650 lbs GT350R donor with higher hp and rev range! It doesn’t make sense at all.

Exactly right! The only shocking number for the Mach 1 is the price.

so this interested me, and blew my mind. i'm in Canada, so these prices are CAD but i'm in utter shock.

a fully loaded mach1 is $79,450 before tax
a fully loaded zl1 1le is $82,838 before tax
a fully loaded zl1 is $74,343 before tax

i'd like to meet the person that picks a mach1. its a really nice car, but common thats just crazy. $90k after tax for an NA mustang? no thank you.

makes me love my ss 1le that much more, i feel like i stole it back in 2018

I just built a Mach 1 to ~$65k: Mach 1 Premium, A10, handling package, Recaros, elite package, base paint, and Nav. That doesn't even include the appearance package which brings it up to $66k!

My '21 ZL1 had an MSRP of $68,935: A10, CF hood insert, Nav., and CF shift knob. The same build is now a hair over $69k for 2022 IIRC.

There's also no such thing as a "stripped" ZL1. They all come pretty highly featured with creature comforts, including electric and heated/cooled Recaros and a heads up display, neither of which are even available in the Mach 1 or GT500.

BTW the ZL1 "brake pad upgrade" is not an upgrade perse, it's a reduced copper content pad so the car can be ordered and sold to CA and WA. So that's only necessary if someone resides in one of those states.

By "stripped" I just meant that I selected zero options on the build list. For clarification sake I'll go make the appropriate edits

This doesn't make sense. Since when is it possible to have a 1LE without the 1LE package?

Is that like a convertible with the coupe's hard top ?

Yeah yeah I get it, but you shouldn't have included the "1LE" designation in the "stripped" examples. It's just a ZL1 "base" to use your term.
