Working on My Trunk Surprise

Working on My Trunk Surprise

Adding a few goodies for my Nitrous build and waiting for parts. Standalone fuel system backdated a few weeks. Waiting on the Nitrous bottles and Solenoids, maybe the Covid 19 is effecting supply and demand.

Taking my time and learned a lot from my 2016 SS build. Doing it right the first time does have its advantages. Going to run it with Nitrous before the cam this time to see the numbers as a stock build with a few bolt ons.

Dam, looks like a serious system. How much do you plan on spraying? Also looks like you spared no expense.

175 Shot, another Camaro owner is doing great numbers with a 175 shot. My other build I was mainly doing 150 shot. I decided this time everything in trunk and did both cabin wiring and under neath wiring. Main thing I am taking my time and that helps when you install it yourself. No rush.

The zex is only to use for the strobe light. Just an added touch for show not on the drag strip.


Just finished up the trunk area. Everything works 100% and wouldn’t you know one of NX Express switch was not working on the bottle heater. Had to chase that problem, rechecked all wire connections and the last thing I checked was the switch. Almost a full day finding that problem.

On to the engine bay.

Well if you want to do it right you have to put in safe guards and get the right parts. Still have to do the standalone fuel cell that’s on back order. I think I will just buy a fuel cell, regulator, and fuel pump and do it myself. Will save $200-250 on not getting the NX safe tank.

That’s what I did back in the day.

On port injection though. When I went to turbos I added an old ford truck tank switching valve so I could have straight race gas in the cell (16gal) & run the nitrous & motor on it. Flip a switch & back to pump gas.

Bottles are in and hooked up. Waiting for stand alone fuel parts. Seems this COVID 19 is delaying everything. I went with two 10 pound bottles this time, last time I went with one 15 pound bottle and it was just to big for trunk. It just didn’t look right for the space of the trunk or lack of space.

A few pics with bottles in and warmers work. Waiting for a few custom Nitrous lines to finish off engine bay. Just got the parts for the standalone fuel system, will be installing this weekend. Made some rear access compartments so I can adjust settings and check fuses without removing the bottles.

Drag pack for me as well 17 4.5 front skinnies and 18 315 in rear. Planning on staying with 175 shot. Depending on times cam and heads to follow.

Spent the day reworking the trunk. I am not in a rush and didn’t like a few things I did. So took it all out and started over to reposition certain parts of the build. Mainly did this so it’s a little neater and more presentable even know it’s mostly going to be covered up. Plus I decided to name this my COVID-19 build because I have so much time to spent in it.

Wiring it back up tomorrow or at least start.
