This is info I didn't know. Thanks.

How does Mobil 1 Oil Filter stand up to WIX and Napa Gold these days? Also whats the correct M1 Filter PN we should be using? I checked the website and it seemed to be M113a and not M113

- M113 seems to cross reference to all LSX types of the past, but is M113a in some way amped up to meet OE standards in terms of the anti-drainback valve?

I was looking at this thread:

The OE filter does look to have more intake holes and maybe slightly larger holes.

Some filters will have PTFE infused sealing rings or silicone sealing rings. This is nice, but not something I make a main decision maker.

I typically buy Wix, but sometimes I'll deviate to a Motocraft or Purolator. The first thing I look for is the silicone anti-drain back valve. Then, I look at the intake holes of the filter. I pick the one that has the silicon valve and the largest, best shaped or number of holes (the one that looks to have the least flow resistance).

Between that Mobil 1 and the OE, I'd chose the OE. But I am sure someone else makes one similar to the OE, but with a silicone anti-drain back and maybe even a silicone sealing ring. I forget what the Wix I have on car looks like in regards to the intake holes...
I'm wondering if M1 updated their design in M113a?

For the first oil change I used the OEM. Second change will be OEM as well because I bought two filters at once (I have this thing about not having any spares). After that it will be Wix WL 10290XP as I now have a case of them sitting on the shelf. I've been using Wix on all of my vehicles for years and it's pretty much all I keep in stock in my shop.

Yes that’s the Mobil 1 oil filter number that you need. The A means extended mileage as compared to the 113 but either one is good.

I like where you're going with that!

Pf64 and valvoline 5w-30 off amazon. The 5 qt price is already cheaper than walmart. Not sure about the filter price at walmart, but with cost of gas still a no-brainer.
Nobody on here (that I know of) is a ChemE or has a PhD in organic. So I'll take my degree in chem and confidently avoid the overpriced Mobil 1 ESP for my needs.

Like you, I have to have a spare before I initiate an oil change.

But it's AC Delco for me always. What's in the manual is what goes on all my GM cars over the many years I have owned them.

That's based on a few of experiences with other manufacturers: a FRAM cartridge filter for an ECO-Tec I4 deformed beyond recognition, an STP spin-on leaking through the swaged joint between the can and the base, and some other brand I don't recall with a reduced area gasket.
