Anyone mounted small subs underneath the rear deck?

Wondering if it's possible to mount 2 8" woofers underneath the rear deck.

I mounted two 6x9's under the rear deck using the Metra adapters for the doors. I did not want to take the interior apart in the back just to install teh speakers. They also make a 6x9 to 6.5 inch adapter, so you could also mount two 6.5 inch mid woofers just as easy.
I used this to tap the 1SS amp in the trunk

I tapped the fuse for the seat ventilation for the amp remote. Amp only comes on when the car is on.

Hope this helps.

I am sure it can be done, but unless you are going to construct some kind of enclosure under them you are not going to get much performance. 8" dedicated subs using the large trunk area as an infinite baffle is not going to give much tight bass.

You would almost be just as good with a quality set of 6x9's run off an amp.

There are a few subs that are designed for free-air (infinite baffle) mountings. One example is the Audiofrog GS8ND. It's also a shallow-mount design, which might be helpful in preventing the loss of trunk space.

This can sound very good, IMO. In my last car I ran a set of 6x9's on the rear deck along with a 12" trunk sub in an enclosure. My Rockford Fosgate amp supported bridged stereo-mono wiring. Just make sure you get the overall impedance right. I used some 10W 1 ohm power resistors to tune the level of the 6x9's to match the 12" output
