Anyone with a GTHaus / Meisterschaft Exhaust?

I installed a catback Meisterschaft exhaust on my ZL1 today. I bought it as I loved the sound it produced. Deapite the high price, I thought it would be worth it. Build quality is fantastic and it looks great.

Problem is I am experiencing some terrible drone. Does anyone else have the same exhaust and experience the same thing? I’m extremely disappointed. I had a Borla ATAK previously that sounded great and had no drone at all.

Why did you change if you were already happy with the Borla exhaust?

Oh, why didn't you buy another Borla exhaust if you liked it so much before? Just trying something new?

I actually ordered a Borla first, but the vendor called me and said it was back ordered and I’d be waiting an unknown number of weeks.

That’s when I started looking for a new exhaust (I considered everything). Spent many hours looking at videos and comparing the different sounds. GTHaus sounded different so I went for it. Only found good reviews, biggest complaint from people was cost.

Did you get just the axle-back or the mid pipe section as well?

Midpipe section as well, it removes the secondary cats.

Drone is a hard issue to overcome because it’s usually due to the design inside the mufflers. You could try adding an X pipe, or a second X pipe if it already has one. If that doesn’t work you could try adding a set of resonators. Unfortunately there’s no magic fix.

Yeah I was hoping that I could fine someone with the same system to see if they had the same issues, or if GTHaus possibly packed the mufflers wrong and this is a one off problem.

Its not going to be a manufacturing issue. Its going to be a design issue. All mufflers have different sound characteristics based on their design. As stated above, you could try adding some resonators or an X-pipe or H-pipe if that system doesn't have one already. Muffler design has a huge role in reducing drone.

Yeah im no stranger to exhaust design. Im an automotive engineer and had a stint at GM in Pontiac, Michigan at GPS.

I’ve never been design responsible for exhaust systems, but I have a few friends that have.

I don’t have any desire to arbitrarily throw parts at this system if it wasn’t designed well to begin with. While it’s a low chance, there is a chance it’s a manufacturing issue. Having one muffler packed incorrectly could easily cause done, especially considering the mufflers are connected.

We have any Gthaus dealers in the GTA? I would love to hear how that sounds.
