If that is true, that puts it pretty close to what I could do in a Z28 last year and will probably drop me at 1:40XX the last 1le did 1:42XX pretty consistently and I could run the gt350tp At 139:9

'07 Z06 is 2:58.2 while the 2011 is 2:53.5? Large discrepancy there.

Yep fastest car ever in their LL1 class testing! The SS 1LE is the second fastest ever in the LL2 class only behind the GT350R!
LL1 = up to $34,999 LL2 = $35,000 - $64,999

The 1LE is 3 seconds off the Mustang time. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the ZL1 at VIR is gonna kick the GT350R's a$$.

The next fastest car in the LL1 category is two columns to the left of the V6 1LE. That is crazy.

Amazing results. Surprised the GT350R didn't beat the Z/28 time. I suspect that like the old GT500 vs ZL1 it will be a drivers race depending on the track. Wish they had tested the ZL1 in this test too, but they probably want to highlight the 1LE for this and let the ZL1 have the attention next year.
Very impressed.

Great results. I have no qualms with them either. The 1LE and GT350R are pretty much equally spec'd. Only thing giving the 350R it's advantage is the voodoo motor at the moment.
Good job Chevy. Quite the deal. |

The 350R is basically on a track tire while the 1LE is on a street tire, so I would not call that equally spec'd.

Don't forget the Carbon Fiber wheels. Thats a huge advantage too. Essentially the 1LE is having to run around with ankle weights on in comparison.

So this may be a tad off topic but how much extra power do you guys think the GT PP would need to make up that 9.8sec gap to the 1LE at VIR???
I ask this because a friend of mine just got a GT PP for $32k and says all he has to do is drop a pro charger in and will keep up with me for still less money. I think he will need a lot more power than he thinks to keep up haha |
