Tire question...
A friend has a ZO6 with Cup 2's on it, they have approximately 1900 and six sessions on them from two days a Pocono.
He had it out yesterday and it was a hand full to say the least, just typical street driving. The tires were warmed up with 70 degrees air temps. It never really got better...what's up with his tires? |

Wore out would be my guess. The Cup 2s are very much a track tire and 2-3 track days and 2,000 miles could be the end of the tires.

If they were truly warm, and it wasn't hooking they are probably heat cycled at this point. I had the same issue with my Toyo's at the end of the season last year and my times were a couple of seconds slower consistently per lap.

Fresh Cup 2's stick like a barnacle...Old and cold Cup 2's are slick as snot on a doorknob.
However, normal street driving at 70 degrees will not get the Cup 2 fully up to temp. As someone who drives on Cup 2's weekly in the summer, it takes hot pavement and some aggressive driving to get them on the warm side, and full on hard driving to get them hot. |
