That's what my alignment shop calls them. It's the two large 24mm bolts that run front to back in your strut. You can't miss them when you take the wheel off.

The lower strut mounts bolt, that bolt the spindle to the strut?

They're called Lower Strut Mount Bolts, Spindle Bolts and in some cars the Camber Bolts

Never in 30+ years have I ever heard them called Crash Bolts

It's an SCCA term, if you ask me.

crash bolts, same as camber bolts. They are often used to correct misalignment from curb encounters. In solo, back in the day, guys used them to put stock cars on non stock capable alignment specs. It ended up in the rule book.

That's where I heard them called crash bolts and that was in the late 1990s.

ETA: sorry forgot OP. Springs or alignment alone will not introduce "poke" or autocross freak-show, as I call it(looks good, feels good IMO). It's the wheel geometry. Offeset may be a tad low or ...hell, I dunno...

So the strut bolts have enough play in them to correct the 1/4"-1/2" "poke"?

I would gladly give this a try over the weekend if it will work.

Have you done this on your Camaro SS? Also, was this done on a regular Camaro SS or your Camaro SS 1LE? Not sure the MRC would have any effect. My car is non-MRC.

I would say there's definitely a 1/4" in the adjustment, not sure about 1/2". When you loosen the camber bolts you also have to knock the bolt out some (~1/2") to disengage the splines just fyi.

Edit: You will want to have the alignment checked after this as it will have changed.

Yeah I think my tire was sticking out a little over 1/2" the strut has quite a bit of play in it. Yes I did this on my Camaro I have a 17' SS 1LE. I haven't seen the strut on a regular SS but I'm assuming they're pretty similar in design so it shouldn't be an issue, the MRC just plugs in on the side of the strut so I don't think the MRC should matter.

Sure hope this works...if not then I guess it's a good thing I purchased unlimited alignments.
