Muffler Delete Input

Hello All,

I got a stock 14’ SS Automatic and it’s very tame. Very quiet.
I’m thinking of getting a muffler delete but how much louder does it get than stock?
Or anyone recommend any axle backs?
Thanks for the input

I have the muffler delete and love it but I also have an X pipe that got rid of the factory resonator. I seen people post they sound crappy with the delete and factory resonator. My car sounds tame until I get on it. At WOT its fairly loud.

I wonder if the drone is pretty noticeable with just the 2 mufflers in the back deleted

I didn't think it was all that drony. It is a noticeable increase from stock for sure, but I liked it much more than the stock sound/volume. But most people I know, including myself, got tired of the muffler delete after a short while and moved on to a catback or axle back for more refinement and tone. As said above, I also did an X pipe/resonator delete at the same time as my muffler delete, so that probably helped with the volume increase.

Think I kept my muffler delete for 2-3 months before I was ready for more. Then I got longtubes and it was soooo loud. That's when I got an axle back.

Seeing as you are in Commiefornia, be careful you don't go too loud or do anything that isn't reversible. I would keep the mufflers if you do the delete, don't give them to the muffler shop.

I started with a muffler delete too. It sounded ok except when the afm kicked in and out
I ended up getting that tuned out, added headers and it sounded great to me. It had less drone than my magnaflow catback believe it or not. I got the catback for $300 or I wouldn't have bought it.

I used to have a challenger straight pipe and that thing was loud! Ironically drone wasn’t bad at all or even there which maybe it was my ears playing tricks on me or I just don’t notice the drone.
I think I will delete mufflers with j-pipes and see how it sounds from there and then maybe a resonator delete

Would you recommend a tune? Or just calibrate the AFM out?
I’m stock so idk if a tune is worth it when a calibration can disable AFM or would a range be better?

Tune. The TCM tune alone is worth it, but it all really depends on your plans for mods. If you haven't started or don't plan on doing more mods, then I would just tune it now and enjoy. They will tune out AFM and you will get improved fuel/timing mapping and substantially improved transmission performance, which really changes the car for the better.

But that can get expensive, so I can totally understand just wanting to go with an AFM disable device, like a Range device, for now.

As a side note, if you buy the handheld and initial tune from DynoSteve, any future mods will be retuned for no additional cost. Its pretty much the best deal for mild builds/bolt on only cars out there, imo of course.

Heres a 2010 L99 with a muffler and resonator delete. The second is a cammed and modified L99.

Heres after the cam and other stuff:

Jesus Christ!! That first video audio sounded so clean and mean!
How was the drone with mufflers and resonator off?

Thanks, personally the sound of an L99 with a muffler delete is disgusting to me. It sounds like a baby tractor gone wrong lol. The drone is pretty manageable, but take my word with a grain of sand; I'm the guy who drives around with open headers and it just sounds like it should. Happy modding, cheers!

No, those fines went away quickly after people complained.

But a new governor would help us all around here.
