Nitto 305/35zr/20 Will they fit?

Hey all,

Hope everyone is healthy and doing well during these times. I am going to be ordering my new tires, and noticed the size comes in 305/35zr/20. Will this fit? I know the whole "it won't fit properly on the stock rears" People have done it. I just want to make sure these are the right ones as it is the first time having to order new tires. Thanks for you time and have a great day!

Are you referring to the NT555R Drag Radials? If so there are a number of us on this board running them on stock rear SS wheels in the 305/35/20 size.

I am looking at the NT555 G2's, i know they aren't as good as the NT555r but I want to try them, and just want to make sure they are the proper sizing. I know the NT555R ar 305/35r/20 just want to make sure the 305/35zr/20 are the correct size as well

On a 9.5 inch wide rim, the MAX tire size you are supposed to run is 285 width tire. A NITTO though runs a little narrower than say a MICHELIN SPORT 4S of the same width size. ON a STOCK SS setup, the MAX width tires you should run are 285's on the 9.5 inch rims and 265's on the 8.5 inch wide rims. Where this comes into play is mostly in hard cornering situations so a straight line situation it is not quite as critical.

The car is FBO with the exception of throttle body and manifold, looking to get into something progressive. My current tire has a fat bolt in it and just looking to see if they will fit, and for the price point figured i could give it a try. Just need to know if it will fit and does anyone have them

are you thinking it's different because of the "z" you put in there? You wrote out an identical tire there just put a "z" in it (which would be the speed rating).

I tried those Nitto 555G2. They will not hook for you. I'm sticking with the Nitto 555R's for daily driving. They'll do just fine for any type of driving I do. And YES, the 305/35/20 fit just fine on stock wheels. I'm on my 3rd set.

But you run a Procharger and in the 10.8s, I wouldn't be so sure about a high perf 305 summer tire not hooking up on a "normal" SS. Not saying the 555 G2 is good or bad, I never had it, but there is a major power difference between your cars.

Also, aren't those 555R's a bit whiny for a daily driver?

Hey bud If you only change the rear tires and go for 305/35s, you're looking at introducing this much front to rear bias. I may be a bit overly risk averse here, but I'd just get a 275/35 or maybe a 285/35 if I don't change all fours. A 315/30 would be better, but those stock wheels are really narrow for that much meat.

He's said he's "FULL BOLT-ON". and no, the 555R's are not whiney. Those 555G2's spun on me way before getting into boost.

This is facts. I would only run the G2 on the front. The 555r are way quieter then stock run flats. There is a 555r II that just came out...supposedly has improved on all metrics.

https://www.nittotire.com/competitio...g-radial-tire/

If you are concerned about running the 555r for daily then I would at minimum run a NT05 for the rear. Although I do think the 555r's can be daily driven as GrandpaSS mentioned they just wear faster then normal street tires but really not any worse then stock run flats. Should be able to get 10-12k miles out of a set unless you are hard on them. I have about 4500mi on a set... I have not been easy on them and they still have about 40% tread left.
