This thing is a mere $9.99 on amazon and works fine: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072BK693N

Noob advice, you really need to touch the antenna to the sidewall just under the valve stem, that's the only correct position. Other TPMS reset tools may have a longer range or also work in a different orientation, I don't know, but the simplicity and cost of this one is hard to beat.

I rubbed that thing around the tire, the wheel and pointed directly on the TPMS.

I was in this thread. I went to Discount Tire and the tech there tried it before he used his tool. Wasn't a noob deal with me for sure. Probably just a bad tool.

a damn....I'm going to try and get another one. Doens't make sense that it didn't work. There shouldn't have been an issue.

Heh, ask me how I know which exact way this sucker needs to be held. The 'noob herd' definitely includes yours truly , I've seen dealership techs do it very quickly, with nary a problem. Glad I didn't give up too soon, though.

I just wasn't going to buy a second one. Tried it on all 3 of my GM vehicles too so gave it plenty of chances and had a ton of instruction from you guys too . I might make another purchase and try again but rarely drive it so hasn't been on my radar.

I love this thread... it reminds me of so much frustration...

That's the one I use. Been working perfectly for 2 years now.

And I swap tires, A LOT.

I had even had a tire shop try and sync it with their tool and it didn't work either.

I figured it out....I tried my rims and tires that had the original sensors. The tool worked.

So i found out the dealership gave me the wrong TPMS sensors part #. They gave me part #13598786 when I should have had #13598787. The valve stem looks then same as the orgional but the sensor itself is different with a different frequency.

That's interesting... I guess since both sets of my tires have in fact sync'd with the car I should be good there, but maybe that was because the store had a super tool that worked with different frequencies and the car may have a small range. Can't remember if I tried both sets. Might need to read this thread and refresh my memory.

Glad you got yours going.
