Diminish value claim and my camaro

Hi guys, well after my accident and around 18k in damages I have decided that diminish value claim is my best chance to get out of this car while I can. Once the car is finished next week I plan to get an appraisal on it and trade it in. So with a diminish value claim, how does it work. I don't know if statefarm is trying to give me false information but they want me to get the car appraised first to see what their payout will be. I was told if the car was appraised too low that it would hurt my claim trying to low ball them. I expect 3-4K from statefarm in a check to me but how can I go about this. I absolutely do not want to involve a lawyer as it can get expensive and not end up worth the time wasted.

Yours thoughts appreciated!

My 2015 Mustang got hit in parking lot. New fender and new door skin. I got about $1100 in diminished value. No negotiating either, they hold the cards. A lawyer isn't going to get involved because there is not much money in it. Just do as they ask and be polite.

Not bad. Yeah definitely don't want a lawyer involved. I just want a fair amount so I don't take any loss on my end.

state farm? Good luck, been trying to get my DV paid for 11 months now.....Like always, going to have to get the lawyer involved. Let me know if you have better luck. I even went all the way to hiring 2 independent guys who both came up with $4100 on a $23K fiesta st with $4,900 in damage. I did not even have my tags yet when I got hit.

What did they actually offer you though (statefarm)?

A diminish value company said I should be paid around 9k for DV. I know statefarm is not going to give me anywhere 9k without taking them to court and I will settle on an offer over 3k since my repairs were 15-18k (still have to get final bill)

I had one of the first wrecked 6gs in January. It had about the same damage as you and I got 3800 in DV. They used the form 17c to calculate.
