Differential Rubbing Noise

Greetings,

As many of you guys already know the Diff rubbing Noise during turns on the SS, I am having the same issue with my Car, I had purchased the car from NH and l live in NY so can't really take it back the dealer, the local dealers don't really treat well as I din't purchase the car from them and would not entertain any warranty Issues 90 days before the purchase date and ask me to go to the dealer where I purchased the car from.....Would paying some local dealer and have them change the Diff Fluid help? any suggestions on how I should really address this?

Thanks

i would introduce myself to a new Chevy dealer that you know or trust (good reviews) talk with the service manager, explaining that you got the car from a different state (due to pricing, I'm sure he'll understand) and that your having these issues. There is a TSB which requires the diff to be flushed "x" amount of times before they start replacing it. No, you should not pay for a diff flush, if its making noise.

I hear it every morning when I leave to work. Is it something I should worry about or just a noise

I think we will all find out eventually. It's obvious metal on metal.

I get the rubbing noise when the car is cold once in a while. I really don't want to bring it in unless I absolutely have to, so far not a huge concern for me st this point.

Mine has been in once for this, and will be going back tomorrow. This morning was one of the colder mornings (40s), and the whole car was vibrating along with the rear end noise.

I think it's a good idea to get it on the record that you have the issue. I took mine in for it, they couldn't reproduce, so they did nothing. When it breaks, I can say "told you so".

Not metal on metal. The rear is locked, causing the sound.

I am going to try to record the sound this morning. It sounds like metal on metal to me, I won't claim I know enough of how that rear works.

I have the sound. Again, its not "metal on metal" Each axle is is "fighting" each other on a turn, because the axle is locked.

So once it warms up they stop "fighting" each other? It does sound like this will cause damage in the long term.

I believe the same...This morning when I started the Car was turning within my driveway, Some sort of really aggressive noise (Sort of Metal rubbing against metal) came out of the Diff, Really loud....! :(
