M6 transmission fluid?
Seems like we need some Dexron VI automatic fluid for our transmission, anyone tried an other brand? Found Redline D6 but is it any better than the OEM AC Delco? If you had to use a fluid for a race car, which fluid would it be?
thanks |

I use Redline D6 in mine. I track the car casually (4 to 5 times a year) and do a trans drain and fill every spring. The Redline D6 has slightly better kinematic viscosity ratings than the OEM AC Delco fluids - 6.3 vs 5.8 - and should hold up better at higher temps. Although I’ve never had an issue with my trans fluid breaking down, I have seen trans fluid temps as high as 286* F after a 20 minute track session. I don’t have the trans cooler so that heat tends to linger, and running quality fluids is imperative.
