I have a 1LE so I would need the flat black. Any idea what would match that if I go that route?

Any experience with drilling the two additional holes? Just trying to get some more info on that.

I think I might just order this frame/cover anyway.

I might call or stop by the dealer and ask them about how they drill the two bottom holes as it sounds like everyone here had them done by the dealer.

EDIT: Just ordered it. Now just need to figure out the 2 bottom hole mounting process.
Wait those bottom holes aren't drilled out from factory? I didn't have to drill out anything on mine.

No, none of the holes are drilled from the factory.

The cover has little dimples for the different plate types, and the dealer does this for you.

In my case, the dealer only installed the top two screws!!

I saw other threads a couple people said the dealers used the wrong dimples to install and the plate was crooked and off center. I would have made them replace my bumper cover lol.

Mine is mounted with just 2 screws, the silicone cover cover's the entire back of the plate and is very smooth, I can't imagine much if anything is happening behind the plate.

Had my fascia off and there are a lot of plastic "holes" on the inside to grab a screw on both the top and bottom. Just have to make sure you are centered before poking holes in the fascia.

I just used a couple of strips of EPDM weatherstripping to keep the plate off the paint. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Frost-King-...2-Pack/3062419

Got small-headed screws from the auto department at Walmart and then the chrome covers from Advanced Auto Parts. Just screwed them in.

Thanks! sounds like I will wait for the silicone frame to come and decide if I want to use the bottom two holes or not.

Did you open the holes up yourself or just replaced the hardware? curious if you made the holes, if you just used the self tapping style screws or used a drill.

Thanks everyone!

I just screwed them in. No hardware whatsoever. They were not near the tire accessories, they were in the vanity section and they did include the plastic retainers, but there was no need for them, just the screws.

They looked like a stainless steel drywall screw and they needed to be a small-diameter head so you can slide a little cup over them to then snap on the covers.

All 4 screws, looks perfect and keeps the silicone cover in place. Practically no gunk finds it way behind the plate.

Metal frame, 4 screws, Torx Drive. This plate is not going anywhere.

2 months back I took my plate off to clean off 4 years of registration stickers and apply the new one. The paint looked just as good as the day I bought her.

Any semi gloss black spray paint should work fine.

...but your paint will, ask me how I know The bumper is just plastic, it won't keep the plate completely stationary.

I already ordered it so it doesnt matter too much, but do you have a pic by any chance?

Did this cover the scratches left by the prior frame?

I am going to get some time today to hopefully finish polishing it. Hope that really helps with how the bumper looks, but either way, I am pretty sure the silicone frame will cover the scratches.

Thanks!!!

Slowly getting this car "straightened out". will need to do the diff fluid since I dont know if it was ever done, next I am thinking. Then probably brake fluid flush/swap to Castrol SRF or similar for track prep... But between mods and maintenance its never ending with these cars!
