Quoted for a procharger install
Got quoted by a local shop to install a Procharger P1SC kit. Just wanted to see if this is a fair price for what I'm getting. Also what kind of power should i expect to make with this on an otherwise stock car?
Thanks! |

Seems high to me, unless this includes dyno runs before after and a tune. The Procharger was an easy peasy install, I've done 3 now. I'm old and slow but say 10 hours for me at 120 an hour = $1200 all in. Procharger has dyno runs, I believe 550 whp SAE on a dynojet.

8-10 hour install.
Guys do it in 8 in their garage. This shop is either charging $200 an hour or $100 an hour for a 20 hour install. Should be $1200-1500 max.....then the $500 discount. Or as others have asked. Does it include pulls and tune. That's about $600-$800 there.

Guys do it in their garage including the install of the inter-cooler? I was told because my car is the SS 1LE its more work due to all of the extra cooling lines in the way. |

Does the 1LE have more coolers? I know it has an ediff… but I don't know where GM would put a cooler. My SS has 3 radiators, an oil cooler, and trans cooler in the front and a diff cooler n the rear. The front is filled with ducts, absolutely filled.

After pulling my front fascia off twice, once to replace the lower grill and once to install the intercooler for my Maggie, I honestly believe I could remove and reinstall the front end in 30 minutes. I'm sure the shop is faster than I am. The intercooler added another hour or so but would be less for a shop that has done several similar installations.

The SS has the same coolers. Your car is just as easy to install a ProCharger on as every other 6th Gen.

strange, so why does GM advertise the additional coolers for the 1LE package if they aren't actually additional?

Make it look exclusive when it isn't. Ss also have same engine, transmission and dual mode exhaust. The exclusive list just got smaller

What are your end goals with it? If you don't want to hassle with upgrading your entire fuel system and getting caught up in a spending frenzy then the P1 is a good setup, but I would go P1X.
Check other shops and compare prices on labor if you are not comfortable doing the install yourself. If they keep throwing out huge mark up on parts and labor then order the parts yourself. |
