10 Speed swap?

Just wondering if anyone has looked into this?

Seems likely to bolt in as the ZL1/LT4 bolt pattern is the same and there is no clearance/fitment differences that I'm aware of

I'd assume you'd need the trans, BH, converter, wiring and TCU and then a flash... Has anyone done it yet or looked into it?

I'm curious as well. Especially after given some time and some 2019's start showing up in junkyards.

Don't need to wait - I'm sure there's some ZL1s there already

this is true, and honestly, I'd rather have that 10 speed. I worry about the programming differences however, given the boosted application. the 10l80 *should* be very similar programming, from ss to ss.

I've found several wrecked zl1's in junkyards, but they are proud of them, understandably so.

I've been interested in this as well, but have been waiting to see someone here do it and the costs. I doubt the programming would be much of an issue.

Trade for a 19 or Zl1. Cost will be prohibitive

Nope... Looking for a specific chassis/trans/engine combo

The cost to trade in is not favorable. I would hope such an upgrade could be done for $7500 or less.

Going to be hard to find an answer seeing as there is very little benefit over the 8 speed so not many would waste the money.

Not if your car is an M6 1LE that already has eLSD. If I was going to convert it definitely would not be for an a8.

All the wiring is integrated into the engine, chassis, and dash harness. The PCM and TCM, cluster, immobilizer, keys, all would have to be changed and reprogrammed, driveshaft, mounts, all different. Making a ZL1 trans work with a SS pcm, cluster, and all wiring along with the rear end which would need a custom tune on top of it, all that is next to impossible unless you have a complete donor car.

The people that are saying just trade the car are saying it for a reason.

That would be a nice swap to do, cost may be some what high for the overall performance you may get out of it. New from GM $6500.00 plus labor and wiring harness (ZL1) that $$ could be used on performance mods. I'm sure you can find some used out of a wrecked ZL1 or SUV

Now you're getting it.

Lightest chassis with the best transmission

Where are you getting this info? The rear end is the same as an SS 1LE, so I see no issue there (for me, maybe not others)
