Operation Under the radar - JRE Super Street Brawler

Worked with Laynlo to come up with strategy and worked with Ted Jannetty on getting parts ordered today. Thanks to both.

First phase, boost to 9-10 psi and that should be around 600rwhp on pump gas.

Second phase, cam and forged rods/pistons...should be around 700rwhp.

UPDATE - combining phases and just going with JRE Super Street Brawler setup...except I am also adding the forged pistons too.

Feeling very lucky to have access to great resources on this forum...and now I also get to tap into my old buddies from the Vette days too when ready. I have a good friend who is one of the best Vette mechanics going...feeling blessed.

Let the Operation commence - @undertheradar

Oh yeah, I also have some LT1 emblems showing up soon and I added my Magnuson Superchargers stickers to the window (thanks Laynlo)...I also have a blackout kit from Big Worm Graphix. The blackout kit should be on soon...will probably post pictures and get feedback on the LT1 emblems.

I ordered two sets: LT1 Supercharged or LT1 670HP...

Funny part is, after my next boost increase, the 670HP emblem will actually be way conservative. Can my ride still be a sleeper.

I think we can make that work.

You're gonna need a bigger strut tower brace.

..

That was a joke

Other than pistons, rods, and a cam what else do you have planned for phase two? 100whp is a little optimistic for just a cam isn’t it?

I may be a little optimistic. I may go ahead and add e85 which should make each phase easy. Worst case, I can always up the boost a little as 10psi on Maggie is nothing.

Also remember, I am probably under representing my current HP by about 20-25rwhp. Pray told us that running in the 1-1 gear ratio would net about 20-25rwhp more...so truthfully, who knows...we will be close.

Gotta be careful taking direction from that laynlo...his ways are questionable. Fortunately you have Ted in the mix to help keep things on the straight and narrow.

Beautiful car BTW and looking forward to your build!

Greg (Laynlo) would never point me in the wrong direction. He is meticulous in his work for certain.

Biggest decision coming up, rough idle or smooth idle cam for the winter?

Awesome. Well the build is looking great so far. Have you figured out with P/R combo you’re going with yet?

Leaning towards Vengeance pistons with the JRE cam setup.

I don’t anticipate ever going much over 700rwhp...let’s face it, I am never adding a rollbar and in STL, to run on the track, verts quicker than 13.5 are required to have a rollbar. So basically, I will never get more than a single pass.

Current setup should be good for high 10’s. After we bump a bit, high-mid 10’s should be achievable (trapping in low 130’s). After cam, low 10’s and potentially high 9’s...coser to 140mph.

sucks that currently the positive displacement guys are limited on fuel; i mean centri and turbo guys have endless options/combinations for intake manifolds & aux fueling.

i wonder if the new intake manifold for the zr1 will be backwards compatible with the lt4/lt1 motors so we can run PD blowers with 8 additional injectors. I suppose the maggies wont bolt up to that manifold tho.

the real question is if we can program the ecm from the zr1 to our cars to use the factory pcm for the additional fueling

That would be legit. I hope so. But unless you can get the vin swapped its probably cheaper to just go aftermarket. Plus you would get more options, like self learning/ correcting WOT tuning!

40$ for a two year subscription to acdelco on 1 vin to do any sps programming

210$ for a gm mdi2 knock off on ebay.

sign me up.

you're right, if we had close loop fueling on the pfi; we could have endless opportunities to making great power that our pistons wouldn't like haha
