In 2017, the Camaro out sold the Challenger outright and out sold the Mustang in retail (people).

It makes sense to do this for 2020. Similar to 2014 before the gen6 Mustang (15) and Camaro (16). Do a power increase instead of a new generation to remain relevant. Crazy that its still the same car. Like Rocky 4...getting old

Wow JD Power Now gives the Challenger full marks I guess Dodge has been busy addressing some of the issues.

Sure, the Camaro has outsold the Challenger, but for how much longer? Camaro sales have been trending downward, while Challenger sales have been trending up.

Looks like this will be the year that it will happen unless GM gives some major incentives.

Here is the year today figures for 2018 as taken from Torque News
"After the first three months of 2018, Chevrolet has sold just 11,792 examples of the Camaro while Dodge has sold 17,648 Challengers – giving the Mopar a lead of nearly 6,000 units. The Mustang is in first with 19,164, so Ford has a lead on the segment of about 1,500 units, but based on the past few years, the Mustang is the odds-on favorite to win 2018 again. However, with the Camaro already trailing the Challenger by 6,000 units and no real changes planned for either cars during the key sales months of the summer, it seems unlikely that Chevrolet will be able to mount a run at the other two muscle cars." |

I remember Newmoon dancing in March 2017 because Challenger was ahead of Camaro. Maybe Q1 is fleet season at Dodge.?.?
Regardless, Chevy is focused on retail and they win that handily. By the way, "people" preference is what I replied to and Camaro wins there.

I see lots of new Challengers around where I live (Grants Pass, Oregon). I see a lot of 5th Gen Camaro's..but not many Gen 6 cars at all. There's a ZL1 in my area, and I did see a new SS/1LE but that's about it...

Dodge knows thier market. Aging people with no sporty pretensions, so decals and more power in an already overwhelmed chassis works. Chevy had a good thing going, but got goaded by Ford to try and turn the Camaro into a sports car when they already sell the far superior to all 3 Corvette. Kudos to Dodge. It’ll be interesting to see if FCA sells Chrysler Group to a Chinese company what the future would hold.

Looks like it already exists. Commercial was about a current product, not future...

The 426 will be added to the 2020 Challenger for road use so they are using a current race car to tease a future offering.
