No, I mean they refer to the engine designation in the sheet, not the trim. Thus, it's not going to be any lighter than that.

Some statistics for comparison:
C8: 60-100 mph = 4.6 seconds, 1/4 mile trap speed = 121 mph
2017 ZL1: 60-100 mph = 4.0 sec, 1/4 mile = 125 mph (10 speed auto)
Hellcat: 60-100 mph = 4.0 sec, 1/4 mile = 126 mph
2018 GT*: 60-100 mph = 4.7 sec, 1/4 mile = 120 mph
2015 Z06: 60-100 mph = 3.8 sec, 1/4 mile = 127 mph. This car also did 0-60 in 3.0 sec.
2016 Camaro SS 60-100 mph = 5.0 sec, 1/4 mile = 118 mph (8 speed auto)
2017 Porsche 911 Carrera S: 60-100 mph = 4.4 sec, 1/4 mile = 123 mph
2020 911 Carrera S: 60-100 mph = 4.2 sec, 1/4 mile = 125 mph. This car also did 0-60 in 3.0 sec.
2019 BMW M4 CS: 60-100 = 4.5 sec, 1/4 mile = 121 mph
2019 Corvette ZR1: 60-100 = 3.1 sec, 1/4 mile = 135 mph. This car also did 0-60 in 3.0 sec.

The C8, after traction is no longer a factor, accelerates about the same as a GT*. Like I said, not slow, but not ZL1/Hellcat fast from a roll.
While the Hellcat certainly is a monster on the top end it is still only good at one thing. I could see if it was great at one thing and just ok at others. But it straight up sucks at cornering. And it has a LOT of body roll. Even with just a light swerve. Don't get me wrong tho. It is an amazing car. But I wouldn't mind switching it out for something that is more all around. While the C8 won't out gun a Hellcat, at least it doesn't suck in any particular area.

Plus I think I'd be ok with strapping a blower on it once the aftermarket companies figure it out. That way I won't be spending Z06 money but I'll have the top end acceleration. But that is a long way off.

I won't part with my ZL1 tho. That car has the best of everything.

or wait for the Z06...the new rumor is it will have a 600hp NA motor in it or get a ZR1 which will have the 800hp twin turbo motor. Of course these are the latest rumors and no proof one way or the other.

I plan to wait and see if the ZL1 gets an upgrade or what the Z06 actually gets. I will trade my 18 Daytona 392 in for it and keep my 17 ZL1.

I actually had considered a GT500, but no way would i give them the mark up on top of MSRP for it. Still would like to see its official specs

I think the rumor is 800 for the Z06 and 1000+ for the ZR1.

That is one thing I hate about GM. The engine code and trim level codes are way to similar sounding lol.

The Z06 is going be a game changer. I don't even have any guess on what will power it, but it's going to be a game changer.

If you browse the GT500 forum of the other site, it seems like after the C8 announcement more than a few people were able to lock up a GT500 at MSRP. One guy even said early july his dealer said 20K over MSRP, called a week or so ago and said MSRP it is- take it for what it's worth.

Though out the summer I get together with all the car guys at all the various shows, I was talking to one of my friends who is a Car Mechanic we were talking about the C8 Vette and he brought up a point the I had not even considered. He went on to tell me how expensive it is to work on mid engine cars and that for even the most minor engine work the engine must come out of the car, he went on to say it would be one of the cars that get rid of as soon as it is no longer under warranty.
Just a thought on the new vette.

I could see that and would buy an extended warranty for it. Just got to make sure if i were to buy one that i bought one with a power level i could be happy with and avoid the urge to mod it. Til I see what the 1/4mile will be on the Z51, i won't rule that one out, but probably be forced to go Z06.

11.3 seconds, according to the pictures of the notebooks the engineers have been carrying around. 11.3 @ 121 mph.

Interesting...that's pretty close to what i had mentioned awhile back. I thought it will be a 11.1 sec car.

That's a testament to the C8...if Ford dealers are backing off ADM for GT500s, then you know the buyers are backing out for C8s and they are more than nervous.

Corvette Forum info and saying there is access panels from the bottom of the car to do all routine maintenance so the engine doesn't have to be pulled. Includes all drive accessories/pullies.

That will be something that is interesting to see. The only difference I could see is that most mid engine cars are exotics, vs this is still a Chevy

It's in the ball park I thought it would be. When everyone was getting excited that it was going to beat the Z06 and be in the 10s all you had to do was look at other mid engine cars and see the ones that were low 11s had similar HP and weight. The ones that were faster were either much lighter or much more power.

I mentioned this earlier as a possibility of people ditching gt500 orders for the c8, glad to see the excitement for the c8 put some of those Ford dealers on notice. Definitely a positive note for guys that really want the gt500 but don't want to get butt ****ed.

Exactly! Another reason competition is good.
