Closed boxed CAI are quieter.

True, I was referring to open designs like the roto-fab but I should have clarified.

I can say with a Roto-Fab and removing the sound deadening plate from the underside of the stock supercharger lid, it's pretty loud.

Last summer I hammered it with the window down whilst passing a big van and about deafened myself.

With the NX lid, it's probably close to sounding like a Hellcat.

This is way off base I guess, but many years ago I owned a 1974 Super Duty Trans Am. I opened the shaker scoop which came sealed, and then sealed the opened air cleaner to the bottom of the hood. That car made the loudest most intoxicating scream as air rammed down into that Quadrajet. The whine from the roto-fab and the NX lid reminds me of that sound, I love it. Like I said, the lid is pricey, but the sound turned out to be worth it to me.

I did the same thing to my 79 SE Trans AM. Couldn’t get enough of opening up the Quadrajet after that

If you look on the Weapon-X site under the Boost Freeze Chiller build it actually made HP...compare it to stock you can see the difference.

I am really not impressed with the whine my 18 makes with the Vengance intake. I am considering a new one.

What one should I get? No other mods. All my other cars (N/A) I've had roto-fab and loved their quality.

Thanks in advance.
We have received a ton of feedback about the S/C whine after adding our system! If you have any questions about our CAI please let me know!

Thanks,
Michael

Sound deadener removal

You will hear the blower then.
If you want more, go for blower porting, pulleys, etc.
Is the rectangular piece in the picture the one to remove? Looks like galvanized plating .... is it riveted in place?

Yeah, when I zoomed in on them it looks like they are torx head screws.

Thanks
