Is this the last Camaro without "nannies"?

Been thinking about this a while. This could be the last Camaro (or any car, frankly) that I own where either it doesn't have a nanny, or I can turn it off if I don't want it on.

"Features" that I hate on cars:
- lane departure warning
- lane keep assist
- forward collision warning
- automatic braking
- auto stop/start

GM has said that most of it's cars and light-trucks will have automatic braking and forward collision warnings by 2022. And they said this as part of an agreement with many other manufacturers.

I'm not saying these things are bad. In fact, I don't care if other people have them. Frankly, I'm really looking forward to the "self-driving car revolution." I can't wait to have a time when 80% of the cars on the road are all driving the speed limit in the right-hand lane . . . so I can make some good time going 80 in the left.

We may be getting to the point where I will elect to not buy a new car and simply keep my old one (or buy more/different old ones).

Last Camaro that didn't have any "nannies" was the 4th gen, imo.

This car has so many nannies it drives me nutz

They’re making people into lazy drivers. I guess we’ll all have to buy used 4th gen Camaros and Firebirds at some point. I just said in another post that was the last car I actually had fun in. Ah the ‘90s...

Running into a 4th gen that still has a functional ABS system these days, is like finding one with a factory air lid

Very true, lol.

Somewhere is a land of nothing but stock Fbody airlids. 4th gens also had the worst nanny of all....Skip Shift

As far as the nannies go they are over the top but you can always turn them off. At least most of that stuff stays off once it is turned off.

ABS first appeared on fourth gens. It was unavailable on thirds.

Yes and no.

I believe the 6th gen Camaro is the last non-hybrid, non-buckled-down tech, cam-in-block (OHV) V8, American sports/muscle car. Corvette is a sports car. The 6th Gen Mustang is sorta in the same realm, but only they already went to OHC years ago, which makes the 6th Camaro a bit more... “traditional”. Challenger is also there.

The future will be one of or a combination of the following: hybrid, semi-autonomous, tech-heavy and small(er) displacement OHC.

However, it is not the last to not have “nannies I can’t turn off”. The 2005-2010 Mustangs (not all of the 5th Gens; the 2011-14 had system still running in the background, even in “all off”) and 4th Gen F-Bodies were those.

Really, the it’s a group that is the last of their type.

You know all that can be turned off.

I'll bet this guy wished he had lane keep assist while he was staring at the infotainment screen:
