Hows your fit and finish?

Hi all,

Im going to try and keep this short and simple. my passenger door is a few millimeters skewed towards the front of the car vs my driver side door. The driver side doors looks how i would expect. The passenger door looks like it is not fully closed (when closed) especially when looking at the ridge near the bottom of the door.

The Local chevy dealer looked at it and acknowledged that it was off, but said they couldnt fix it and that it was "In spec"

There are your other normal Chevy panel gap issues, but this one is pretty glaring.

anyone else have this issue with their doors?

Nope.

The bottom gap is wider than the others, on both the driver and passenger sides, but that is indeed in spec, every 6th gen Camaro I've seen was similar. Other than that, the gaps are even and of the correct width. The service manual probably lists the actual spec, at least it does for the hood, that I do remember seeing.

In the words of my gf for everything I ever notice on any of my vehicles, “nobody is going to notice that but you”.
Think the same will apply here.

One of my friends is the one who pointed it out to me. asked if my door was closed all the way. Its happened two more times since then.

The concern i have is that the passenger door gap is much larger than the driver side. Even the dealer admitted it didnt look right.

I understand, just wanted to say not all Camaros are delivered like that. In the meantime I checked my 2018 service manual, alas, no panel gap specs apart from the hood, presumably because the hood has provisions for adjustment.

You might want to check the two door hinges, perhaps their bolts are not centered on the body. If you're still within bumper to bumper, I think the dealership should at least make an attempt to perform the adjustment under warranty. The driver and passenger sides should look identical.

I am also very picky, probably too picky. My 2022 2SS does fit together decent however, not perfect, but decent enough. I have had a couple of trucks that the door/fender alignment was horrible, my 2019 Corvette front end assembly was the the worst. These cars can be worked on by the dealer. So I will admit that while I did have the dealer do the corrections on my trucks, I actually took my corvette to a local body shop that I know the owner and spent a couple hundred bucks out of my pocket, just didn't trust the dealer not to scratch the car while removing the front end. There are lots of adjustment points on most vehicles so I do believe yours can be corrected given the right technician. To me it was worth spending a couple hundred bucks out of my pocket to get my Corvette done correctly, might be worth you having a reputable body shop give you an opinion if you are unable to get the dealer to work on it.

Hope my 2 cents helps, good luck.

Good advice here. Most times taking ANY car to the dealer for ANY kind of repair is a recipe for disaster. Especially now with lack of help and the help they do have are just hired bodies.

any shop that specialises in classic cars or good body shop can fix that for you.might cost a couple of hundred bucks but it will be right.

Actually I had to get my 18’ ram 3500 bed/cab aligned. In spec, but they were both twisted if that makes sense.

The dealer has a deal with a good body shop. They actually sent it there and i was so relieved. The only reason I ended up noticing is because I put a LEER cap on it and then it really stuck out like a sore thumb. (Inches ) Now it’s perfect. Essentially they just loosened bolts and gave it some love taps lol.

I would 100% just go to a body shop. You won’t like the results at the dealer. Either it still won’t be fixed or something else will be damaged etc

Mines quite good for a GM production vehicle. But that's the kind of things I look for when buying. Bad habit from buying and building custom cars.

Hahaha! Next time she’s getting all dolled up to go out, and scrutinizing her hair/makeup/outfit/shoes for just the right look, just remind her that nobody is going to notice but her
