Also, the ventilated seats are fairly weak, but they do help a little on a hot day.
I guess I never looked into it but assumed it was a major diff between a suburban cooled seats and Camaro/vette ventilated seats.

The C7 I drove felt like a fan vs my suburban AC.

My grossly uneducated guess about the Suburban is that must have had airconditioned seats, whereas the C7 and the 6th gen Camaro only have two variable speed fans in the seat assembly.

UPDATE!

This sounds better! I would do this. Everything is in place but the “chip” module etc.
so in theory not as invasive surgery as we/I originally thought. This article makes sense. Lots of people would go elsewhere. For our daily vehicles in MI for example. Heat/AC seats and heated wheel non negotiable.

Toy car= negotiable for me.

“GM will now sell vehicles with the hardware for the features and pay its dealers to install the chips when they’re available. There will be no cost to customers, but a trip back to the dealership with a new vehicle isn't ideal.”

Yeah that makes sense. Night and day. Not even close. Same with my Ram. On a hot day I’ll still turn them off after a while they get so cold.

Agreed. As for me I would like to hook up my LT1 Recaro heaters. The ventilation is weak. And running AC on a track is a really bad idea. All Recaros, hooked up or not up until now have the heat/vent capability as far as I know. Maybe that has changed?

I still find the chip shortage problem very strange and feels like bad engineering and managment. I work in the electronics industry and getting parts has been more difficult. Some parts I need have a lead time of over 1 year. What I don't understand though is that places I've worked have had a general policy that all parts must have at least 2 equivalents. Now for something like ECU or saftey systems like ABS I could undersrand that there might be parts with no alternates or that require too much additional validation and testing but for something like heated seats it makes no sense. I'm sure even I could come up with re-engineered alternative in a week and I'm sure they've known about this potential problem for months.

Lean manufacturing means less parts on hand which means more $$ in investors pockets. No other reasoning behind it. Was going great for them until COVID…

The reason for the chip shortage is a complex one.

Here's just one of the many reports on the cause. Do a internet search yourself.

Simply search for 'what is causing the chip shortage'

2022 Camaro build website now makes no mention of heated seats and steering wheels. 2021 still shows them.

If you look at Standard Equipment, the ZL1 still shows heated/ventilated seats and heated steering wheel. I just looked at it a couple hours ago when I was picking my build options.

In the compare trim levels feature there is no mention of it for 2022 but there is in 2021.
