I spend tons of time at the drag strip (I probably have over 500 passes) with various cars, and I still say that the chances of a stock, A8 SS hitting something better then a 1.8 60' are near zero. Between the numerically low gears in the rear, soft converter, and it's weight. Heck, even the very, very few "hero runs" that some on this forum like to call them, for the A8 C7's are in the 1.7 60' range (and it's only like two cars). The vast majority are in the 1.8/1.9 60' range, which is where you will see the A8 SS in my opinion.
Well since you spend so much time at the track I'm sure you know that going from high 1.9's to low 1.8's is huge on the et. And even though the zl1 had more low end it also had alot more weight. The new camaro also has an advantage with its more aggressive gearing in the 8speed auto. The mph is a clear indication of the HP/weight of the zl1 vs 6th gen SS. On paper the zl1 should handle it with ease but that may not be that case in the real world.

The Hot Rod pass that was a 12.28 or something like that, if I recall was a 1.86 60' on the slip I saw. That was on a prepped drag strip on a cool day. If I recall the driver was some pro drag racer. My old self can't remember who though. That is going to be about the best 60' you will see all stock on an A8, unless you get mine shaft DA. 1.86, for a bone stock car on street tires is pretty good. Should be easy to hit near that with the A8, will take skill to do it with the M6. But that is what makes it fun...

Agreed. I'm sure with some cold weather and neg da we will see some high 11.9's but it won't be the norm. Mid to low 12's should be easy for the auto guys. The manual guys are always a toss up because most people will have a hard time launching hard enough or not blowing the tires off one the 1>2 shift. What I really wanna see is some slicks and driver not scared to get after it!!!! I wish the camaro guys were as crazy as the mustang guys.

The scat has gone as fast as 11.89 with only DR supposedly. Also seen an 11.69 with hellcat intake only and DR. 60 ft was 1.6-7. Those are the best times currently. I think the best totally stock is 12.1.

Camaro should be able to do a bit better all around.

I agree.

The Scat Packs are *slightly* more aggressively geared, both in the transmission and in the final drive ratio and make a bit more HP and TQ, as well as having a better exhaust system stock. However it's also easily 425lbs more, which should shift the advantage back to the Camaro.

I see we now have a couple of time slips posted in another thread, so I assume those people will post to this thread soon. It's time to limit this thread to time slip posting and move the chat off. Every ones cooperation will be appreciated in the future.

Please take the time to read how to post your times slips for inclusion.
