Lightest available forged aftermarket wheels

Overall, my goal:

I'm trying to put together a comparison of combined GM LPO options and aftermarket items for the SS vs. factory 1LE options. I understand that the seats and rear-end (axle ratio and ELSD) will hard if not impossible to address. Other items might be slightly different (MRC) or not available (rotors, braces)...yet. I'd like to see how close I can get before I reach the point of no return on my SS order. Others are in the same boat or might be on the fence about buying an SS now vs. waiting and sacrificing 2SS options.

The 20" wheels are one area where we might be able to find a comparable or maybe even lighter alternative for a 285 front / 305 rear forged combo. Would it be realistic to request that we work on compiling a list of wheels and their weight as they become available?

I think we need to find out the weight of the 1LE wheels before we can compare. I know MRR and Hre FLow forged both have light semi Forged wheels. Both are Flow Forged and I believe about the same weight as Forged. Factory SS Wheels are heavy because they are cast wheels.

Quoted from other threads so far:

OEM front wheel = 29.32 lbs (no weights or center cap, includes TPMS sensor)
OEM rear wheel = 32.30 lbs (no weights or center cap, includes TPMS sensor)

OEM front tire = 30.02 lbs (only 280 miles on it)
OEM rear tire = 32.07 lbs (only 280 miles on it)

HRE Flow Forged FF15:
Front: 20x10 ET33 - 24.4lbs each (Requires 5mm spacer up front to clear strut)
Rear: 20x11 ET45 - 25.2lbs Each

MRR FS01 Flow Forged:
Front 20x10 23.5 lbs
Rear 20x11 25 lbs

I have been researching this myself as I want some lightweight rims and the 1LE sounds like a good size. Although curious to what they changed for the rim and tires to be better on the track. I think you will need to match sway bars and springs maybe?

There are wheels thay weigh 18 to 20lbs for 20"ers.

If you want to pay $1500 a piece.
It is up to you how fixated you are on this 1LE.

I would just take a deep breath and stop trying to make an SS a 1LE.

I am also looking for more info on wheel weights...it seems that none of the online retailers other than Tire Rack even list the weight of the wheels you are buying.

Yeah I haven't looked at everything on the 1LE yet, just figured the wheels are good place to start. I'm obviously not going to be able to make everything a 1:1, just trying to see how close I can get so I don't end wishing I waited or vice versa. There are going to be compromises on either side and I'm just trying to go about gathering as much info as I can.

Also, if I can find a good set of wheels now I can save myself a few bucks. My dealer is planning on giving me LPO's off another car he has on-hand, which got me around the constraint. There won't be any point in paying for those if I can find a better option.

I wasn't sure what everyone else had already identified as good options as there are ton out there. I'll do more homework tonight as well after I get out of work.

The lightest wheels (that is not one of a kind) comes from the high end makers like Forgeline or HRE. My Forgne 19/20 Vette wheels were 22# rear and 19.5# front. Of course, it will cost you $1500 a wheel or so...

I forgot about Phil's Tire Service...they cater to racers so they actually look into wheel weight as a deciding factor.

From what I can tell, we use the same bolt pattern as BMW, right? Probably not the same center bore.

BMW is 5x120, offsets are close too, usually 18 - 30 mm and will need spacers.
Some nice BMW wheels out there in 19", just find the one with 30 - 35 mm offset with a spacer and it should work. Test fitting is recommended
Hub ring will also be required on many rims as they are not vehicle specific to Camaro.

A company like MRR designs wheels that are direct bolt on, correct hub and offset. One stop shopping.

I will post some of the info I have on lightweight options....when life lets me.

Roger that, I'll be waiting.

Primarily I do autocross so I can't go beyond the limits for the F Street class (which I think is 1" diameter change and only 7mm of offset change...don't know about width).

Thanks, that's a pretty decent wheel option for the money. Thanks.

Go to a 19 inch wheel
