315/35/20 tires rubbing issues?

Im about to pull the trigger on new wheels, and i am wanting 20x11 wheels in the back with 315/35 tires, like i had on my 5th gen. I have been told that some have had issues with the 315 tire rubbing. I may have to go with a 305, but im really wanting that 315. Has anyone experienced this?

I have 305/35's on my 20x11's and it is a snug fit, I think that is as big as you are going to be able to go without mods (spacer or something like that).

I wonder if simple spacers from the parts store would fix it?

It's possible. The tire shop I used was mentioning that I would most likely need those if I were to go any bigger.

Do they make a 315/30 tire?

They do make 315/30's but they are summer only tires. If you want all seasons then you don't have a choice (I looked all over the place) but to go with a 35.

Summer tires arent a problem, i dont get it out in inclimate weather. Its not really that big of a deal if i have to go with 305s, i just really want that fatness like i had with my 5th gen

Not really , it's more like 9/16"

Goes like this

315x35%=110.25MM = 4" 5/16

315x30% =94.50MM = 3" 3/4 ( 4"5/16-- 3"3/4= 9/16 ) of tire wall !

But I see from where you coming from , but the lower tirewall , that seat on the pavement doesn't count to creat the rubbing issues , it really doesn't !

While your math adds up, in the real world the difference is generally 1" from what I've seen. Look up the tire heights for the same brand/type of tire in the 2 different sizes.

Do a simple search on Michilen Pilot Super Sports over on Camaro5.com in the ZL1 forum where this topic is discussed in length.

Many of us are running the MPSS's in 295/315 sizes. Most of us do not have issues with rubbing (unless the car is lowered) while some people do.

I've been running the MPSS's in the K2 version for 1 1/2 years now with no rubbing on stock 5-spoke wheels.

I had some 315/35 Running on my rears no rubbing whatsoever, it was a local brand called accelera here is a picture of that! http://www.camaro6.com/forums/attach...5&d=1450216261

I switched it to 305/35 Pirelli P Zero ended up getting some rubbing on the rear driver side, front part of the right tire there is a cable behind the interior wheelbase cover, you can probably move it to the side but it is a very tight fit!

So I ended up with 295/35 Pirelli P Zero and no rubbing at all! It puts my nerves at ease knowing I gave it some wiggle room! My guess is same thing will happen with any summer performance tires since they are smaller but wider?! not sure how to describe this exactly...

275/40 in the front does rub the walls a bit when i do some turns but im not too worried about that to be honest!

The "performance concept" at SEMA had 335's on the back. Unless it's any different, I don't see why you'd have a problem.
