I would think the price is what it is because it’s a new model in the Camaro line and probably all the 2020 Camaros went up in price. They always seem to go up in price every year. Red Chief, if you like the LT-1 model then I don’t see anything wrong with you buying one! You can’t go by on what someone bought a new 2019 1SS or 2018 for since it’s a new year Camaro and new year in 4 months! Go for it if you want it and you feel good about it too!

I’m looking for a V8 Convertible and I’m finding new 2019 1SS’s convertibles under $40k. Only problem is I can’t stand the front of the 2019 SS. I would need to spend a couple thousand just to make it look tolerable. Ordering a 2020 LT1 convertible is looking like my best bet even though I won’t be saving much compared to some of the 2019 1SS’s with hefty discounts out there.

Thought the same thing but got an insane deal on my '19 1SS. After a week, I didn't mind the front end at all. I actually dig it now. Zero regrets getting the '19. Not paying thousands more for a little bit of paint. Nope.

Even with the discounts I’ve seen on the 2019 1SS, I’ll still come out about $1k ahead ordering a 2020 LT1 convertible. Not much of a discount from the 1SS but for me at least, the 2019 SS front never grew on me at all while I loved the RS front the day it was released. Add the SS hood and ground effect package, it’s a win for me. The below car is the direction I would go including shock color but convertible.

It's all what deal you get. I got around $6595 off MSRP on mine so went with the '19. I didn't care about color at all as long as it wasn't black.

That’s what I said 4 years ago, worked out pretty well but I’m ready for something new. What dealer did you work with? Give you any discounts outside of GM rebates?

33K is pretty darn good for a V8 muscle car that will do 0-60 in 4.X seconds or so. And with an automatic, even better. I paid 33K for my 2018 Mustang GT base- pretty good price last year in August. I no longer have it due to engine issues and back to a Camaro now. I also have a V6, the SS was way too much money for me earlier this year when I traded the GT in. Still I netted 30K cash for the trade in so I did not do too bad. I would love a new LT1 but my budget is too tight and I drive too many miles- plus it requires premium fuel. If it took regular fuel I would be more likely to consider one.

87 octane

OK...go out and buy one now:

If you look more closely you CAN run 87 (regular) gas.

Just because one CAN do a thing, it does not follow that one SHOULD do a thing.

If you have a 6.2, do yourself a favor and run the good stuff. There are numerous explanations as to why scattered all over this forum.

Completely agree. But as long as the owner's manual stipulates that it is OK to run it, it is covered under warranty.

He could run the 87 for the daily use and put 93 in when he wants to have fun.

You shouldn't let fuel octane sway your purchasing decision. You Camaro owners should be advocating this car at every chance you can get before GM calls it quits on this awesome car.

And this is coming from a MUSTANG owner...

Are you considering making the move? You have the name and model/year Mustang I have!

Don't put 87 in the 6.2. Go with what's recommended and what it runs best on. It's worth the extra $10-15/per month.

I came from a Mustang GT as well. I liked the GT but the SS feels like a step up in performance.

87 octane was $4 a gallon in 2012 when I bought my first Camaro...it’s easy to forget.
