What would you pay for a valved system? $2995?

Again, I'm not part of the team that decided not to offer NPP compatible exhausts for this market, but I'd love to take any and all feedback (as I have shared from this thread already with our sales team) to the New Product Team here and ask them to develop a business case for it.

I appreciate the response to our valves system concerns. I’m on the boat that I daily drive my car and want the car to that that substantial volume difference between modes. From my perspective the fact that AWE already has a valves system made it seem “easier” to add it to a camaro system but it’s obviously not that easy from a business standpoint that designed a system without valves from the get go. The fact that the car came factory optioned with valves makes me want to keep them, I don’t want actuators zip tied out of the way because they’re not being used. Price point I realize is another issue , I see that you’re not going to get a quality npp system for less than the competitors like borla/corsa which are $1700-$2000, and that’s ok, businesses have to make a profit.

I cant fathom the Camaro crowd would swallow 2995 for a valved system...3" cat back that deletes the secondaries...MAYBE. But thats a lot of cheddar and in the business sense, there may not be the profitability there.

I did the axle back Touring and its fantastic, get's plenty of compliments on the tone and volume, and yes, it's got a loud bark on cold start. And yes, times it could be more palatable if it were quieter...but for the money valves arent worth it for me and NPP wasn't a factor in my car purchase.

My thoughts on pricing are:

1. What does a comparable valved system from a comparable company retail for? We can all guess the “other” two big, reputable, and commonly used catback companies for 6G Camaros.
2. If an AWE valved system would retail for significantly more, it would obviously need to have features/benefits to justify the price delta. Otherwise I’d assume it should be priced similarly.

I don't see why a valved AWE system would cost more than the competition, a Borla valved set of exhausts for example. My understanding, by going through the posts here, is that the majority would prefer a valved AWE exaust system. Afterall we paid extra in order to have this extra npp function on our cars, I don't see why we should be convinced that we don't need it. I absolutely love the sound of the AWE Touring exhausts and, if I had them on my car, I would keep the valves open most of the time. However, like most of the folks here, I need the npp function - there is a reason we paid extra for it.

Can't argue with that. NPP is a great solution for many people.

The idea that "X should cost the same as Y" to be be appealing is true too. We are a much smaller company than those bigger brands and perhaps have a disadvantage in supply chain and component pricing.

I completely understand this Dave. And although I am one of those who want to maintain the npp function, I need to tell you that the AWE Touring is by far THE BEST sounding exhaust. It's a great product!

I am game for something as well.

I wanted NPP on the car as well for a reason but like most the OE just isn’t quite enough.

Something deep, big change between open and closed, couple tip options and a second cat delete would be ideal. If it removed weight even better.

That being said $3000 for a cat back would kill it for me unless it’s a Ti muffler like the Akropovic stuff was for the Vette.

Honestly I liked the quad tip look better than the dual look(didn't care about npp at first). I drove the car in Touring mode until the 1500 mile oil change. Now it's in Sport but the exhaust has always been set to track. Now I feel like since I have the npp function, I may as well look at axle backs that offer that same functionality(don't want the valve motors zip tied either). AWE was my first choice way before I bought my car(I liked their design because I think that's what the OEM exhaust should have looked like). Now that I like the npp, I think I want something that is compatible. If they decide to make it they will be at the top of my list instead of last.

FYI, my list was...
1. AWE
2. Magnaflow(I have stainless catback on my truck and it sounds great)
3. Stainless Works

agreed something like the corsa npp with AWE sound with noticeable changes between modes for a similar price. Don't think there's a market for Ti exhaust stuff on this car or ~3k exhausts. If it's a quality piece of kit I don't mind spending towards top of market for it especially if it wears well and has some value on the back end. However, 3k is a lot of track time so probably would limit myself to 2k.

Really think these exhausts need to bring something special to the table on this car. Stock NPP is pretty good with secondaries deleted - just raspy on top end and quiet at low rpms with valves open - not a lot of muscle sound cruising. My last 6th gen was FBO and it seems most of the exhaust tie up is with the manifolds rather than pipes and mufflers unlike say an F80 where the midpipes change the whole car. Which is why I would say a catback at the price of FBO kit would be a hard sell and would have to be a simply unbelievable product for me to buy.

Having thought it over there's no way I'm losing NPP on this car for a non-NPP setup. Still odd to me AWE chose to come on this forum and post "more sound less valves" amid a thread/forum clamoring for a valved setup from you guys. That's the kind of weird "we know better than our customers" attitude that turns me off to brands to be honest.

I got the Touring Non-Resonated, and installed it the same time I did my Kook headers.
Granted the two shall never meet and I had go get creative....BUT the sound is great!

I live in an HOA community and talked with my neighbors to see how they felt about my exhaust.
They all said it sounds good, and not bothered by it a bit...even at start up at 6:00am.
Granted one said he knows the time I leave for work and when I get on it outside of the community, he can still hear it. Then again he is a car guy and loves it...even his visiting guest commented how great it sounds.

As for the npp, I didn't pay extra since this was a used car with 25k miles on the clock.
And when I did have it, I always had to open them up before leaving, never did like the soft sound...I wish the default was the opposite!

Also as mentioned, when you are not on it, it doesn't sound that loud...yes louder then OEM soft, but not disturbing...hence my neighbors don't mind.
At start up in the morning, I leave my garage door closed, and open it after start up. Then again all the homes are insulated, not sound proof, but insulated none the less.

I have received a lot of compliments, one time a truck followed me from Home Depot to Lowes. I noticed him as I was leaving Home Depot, and he sped up to follow me...my radars went up, so when I got to Lowes, I circled around like I was looking for a parking and then he pulled up to me and said..."Hey man, what do you have in that car! It sounds f'n good! What kind of cam do you have?"
I was like huh? Cam?
That's the second person asking me if I had a cam in my car.
Another thought it was a Z06...HUH?

Oh, and if you like the burble and crackles, it is enhanced with this exhaust...at times I do get a little annoyed with it, and when downshifting, the rev match will wake up the car next to you...LOL!

However, when I run E85 the burble and crackles are not as much.
Maybe it's the cooler weather, and I don't run E85 in the winter.

In the end it comes down to your own desire and what you'd pay for.
Some people will drop $2-3k for a wheel that will not give them as much performance as these exhausts, but it looks good!
Well...this exhaust sounds Good and is much cheaper with performance!

Oh, if you do get the quads, go for the Black Diamond...suckers look AWEsome!

I'm not sure the AWE Team is getting enough credit. That touring edition catback sounds beautiful, wow! I'm more upset that Chevy didn't make my v8 sound like one from the factory.

Just purchased my '18 2SS (new-to-me) without NPP, & can't wait to swap this worthless v6-sounding stock exhaust lol

Agreed, AWE Touring is the best sounding exhaust I've ever heard on a V8.
