What’s the latest rumor?
Is the Camaro going to be cancelled all together? Going electric?

The rumor is build to 2023. I think they are sitting back and waiting to see the redesigns of mustang and Challenger. Then make a decision. I can't see an Ecamaro in the future as they didn't have it at the new car reveals. Anyway that is my opinion.

From what I gather there is a lot of talk on the table about where the market will be and if there will be a push towards electric vehicles or not or if emissions standards and government restrictions will change etc. It does not look like anything is etched in granite along those lines. So I think GM has to wait. At this point I do not think it is GM's fault. I think they have to wait to see what is going to happen. Same with FCA and Ford.

My guess. There will be a gen7 Camaro and it will be Hybrid with no V8.

We will also have to wait and see if GM needs a bail out.

You can be guaranteed that everything feasible is going to go electric at some point in the near future.
I think the camaro will get cancelled and the name will just get re-used on an SUV/cuv hybrid/electric type vehicle since those are the type of vehicles people seem to want to buy these days. Then again, i think we're in the twilight years of personal car ownership altogether and definitely the end of enthusiast modding for performance (that's legal anyway). Until the government collapses anyway and then it's up to which dystopian future movie reality chooses. |

One thought would be that The 6th gen rolls though 2023, Camaro gets shelved and if Al Oppenheiser is still leading the Electric vehicles team Camaro comes back as a 2025 or 2026 electric performance vehicle with styling based off Gen 5 Camaro.

On point #2: Man I hope you’re wrong! Not a Ford guy but what they did with that Mach e is a stain on humanity To deface the Camaro name like that would be a crime. Can’t focus on point #3 - still hope you’re wrong on point #2.

Al was moved to EVs a few years ago. EV platform teased with an EV Camaro. The electric Camaro is definitely coming.
But this doesn't mean that Camaro will only exist as an electric car. The latest survey that was leaked still mentioned a lot of ICE choices. GM is not dumb. To be profitable they would still have to offer lower spec camaro for reasonable prices - Which will still be really hard in the next years if you go for electric. Also they know a lot of fans don't just care for performance, they want the sound and the rumble of Chevys great smallblock engine. My best guess is that the EV Camaro will be one performance choice, but not the only one. Rumors say that in May there will be a reveal what Al was working on the last few years.
