What happens to orders damaged at the factory?

Have a question if anyone might know of what happens to a ordered car that gets damaged at the Lansing factory? Found a dealer that had a car ordered that got damaged after production. Busted rear window, damage to trunk lid and scratches on quarter panel. From what they told the dealer was that it's very fixable, but it's been months and the dealer still hasn't seen the car. With production ended, does damaged orders just get scrapped or do they go on a repair list and get repaired at a later date?

They will repair it and it will either go to a Dealer or to an auto auction.

Thanks, GM is not giving the dealership too much info on it and the dealer is waiting on a response to a follow up they placed and not expecting to hear back until after Jan 6th. Trying to find other cars for now, next to none left in the trim and options I'm looking for.

I used to work as a contract engineer in Detroit Hamtramck working on the 1998 Seville launch, and I ended up working late in the body shop a few times. They had a section in the body shop with heavily damaged vehicles, and the 2nd shift crew would stay after shift and work on them for OT.

One guy there called them the "Dorothy" jobs, I asked him why, and he said "Because you are not in Kansas anymore". They were usually pretty bad. I would probably stay away from buying one of those if you know about it. Long term, the paint never stays as good as new because they have to sand off the galvanized coating when they refinish it. I will say, though, that they usually have top notch body guys and gals at the plant, so the car will look and drive fine.
