AWE touring

I know another exhaust thread but this will be a short one. It’s exhaust time and I’m sold on the AWE touring however I’m trying to decide cat back or axel back. Is there any benefits to getting the cat back if I’m never going to mod it? 650 hp is plenty fast enough for the Tennessee back roads. The axel back is significantly cheaper and sounds from what I can tell pretty much the same. Thanks.

No benefit to catback other than you're getting the AWE X Pipe. Some people say the axle back has more resonance. Plus you can get the resonated touring exhaust if you get the catback and it sounds even better. No power difference though.

Thanks. The resonated touring is what I was looking at however it’s about $1000 more after tax and shipping than the axel back. I’m thinking it’s not worth the extra k unless I was going to mod it which I’m not.

It's only worth it if you want better sound. The Xpipe and resonators change the sound some.

I’m in the same boat. I don’t know if I should go with the touring or track edition cat back. My dad’s car has a kooks muffler delete which is equivalent to the axle back track edition exhaust. Is it worth the extra few bucks for the cat back?

The Touring system is NOT quiet, to be sure lol… I like that there is no resonance, which you would obviously get with the Track version. I did the resonated catback version and love it. I was even more glad to have the resonated version when I added headers…!

I ended up purchasing a axel back touring with the black tips from cps racing and once I get it installed I’ll report back. From what I understand I can always purchase the resonated X pipe separate down the road from AWE if I’m not satisfied with the axel back sound.

Hi

Does AWE sell only the X pipe , i want to retain my stock exhaust and add X pipe for more sound depth.

Anyone installed only the Xpipe with stock exhaust?

Drone is subjective. I found it droned a bit and could really feel the difference over stock NPP after 2 hours of driving.

I have the resonated cat-back on my 1LE and I love it 99% of the time, but with the different 6th gear, it puts the exhaust into drone zone when I'm on the highway usually between 70 and 80 mph. I think in the regular ZL1, (auto and manual), it would be fine. It's got a real deep throaty tone, I get compliments on it a lot.
