Back to Eagles Canyon Raceway SCCA 9/19
Ok guys well THIS sunday, I will be doing SCCA time trials at ECR. In preparation for that I am going to try a couple NEW things.
In order to get MORE negative camber out of the REAR of my car (with stock Toe Rods, I can get about -2.2 degrees camber), I am going to try out SPL Toe Links so that I can try something along the lines of -2.6 to -2.8 degrees negative camber. Here is link to TOE LINK. https://www.splparts.com/products/ca...c-lockout.html We will try a very small amount of TOE IN on the rear with NEUTRAL TOE IN on the front using -3.6 degrees camber (MAX setting on Vorshlag Camber Plates). I heat cycled out my Pirelli slicks so we are going to try MICHELIN slicks 30-65-18 on my APEX 18 x 11 ET27 wheels. Having run slicks now for just a couple of sessions, I have been trying to get a feel for EXACTLY when it is time to change them out. The BEST advice I have gotten on that is you change them out when your lap times become noticeably SLOWER. You cant really go by the wear holes or how they physically look like you can on a street tire. In running MSRC last weekend, I noticed my FIRST session lap times were off by maybe 3-4 seconds and it got progressively worse after that so that kind of tells me AFTER the FACT that I should have changed them our PRIOR to that event. I know some people keep track of how many heat cycles the tires have had and then just simply change out the tires after a predetermined number of them. Please post up what you guys do in terms of when you swap out tires!!!!

FYI - I'll be there just in DE-Experience, not running TT. My car would normally fall into ESP, but my wing takes me out of that class. I could put my stock trunklid with my SS 1LE spoiler & wickerbill on, but, I don't care, I'm just getting some laps in the "rare" 2.7 CW configuration.
I see you are registered in Street / FS. Your engine mods would put you into Ultimate (040TW or higher tires) or CAM-C (200TW or higher tires). SCCA Texas Region doesn't allow non-DOT slicks in any TT class. You can switch to DE-Experienced and run whatever flavor of mods and tires you want. At present, there are only four in DE-Experienced anyways, me, a Cayman racecar, a Miata racecar, and a 2020 ZL1. Come play cat & mouse in that group! https://texasscca.org/2021_tt_classes.pdf Texas Region Ultimate Class The Texas Region Ultimate Class is designed for cars that do not meet the requirements of the featured Regional series classes. Vehicles that meet other TRTT class categories will be allowed to run in the Texas Region Ultimate Class. In addition to all other noted series safety requirements, Texas Region Ultimate Class vehicles must have: • a minimum overall weight of 2600 pounds or more • DOT approved 40 UTQ tread wear or higher tires • a roll bar/hoop or factory rollover protection • an approved and properly mounted racing seat or Factory Seating • five- or six-point harness • fire suppression system (on-board Mounted Fire Extinguisher is allowed) • any spoiler or wing configuration is allowable |

I was planning on going to this and would be using G3Rs. Not going to make it this time. Will be staying local and going to COTA instead.

I was going to see the F1 race there at COTA but with all the elevation changes on that, it is hard to determine where exactly to sit. Have any recommendations on that???

UPDATE results and Observations
Well you research how much air you should run in Michelin Slicks they suggest you start out about 24PSI cold because they work best hot around 30-32 PSI.
Well they were working VERY well around 28-30 PSI cold for me but WTH I tried 24PSI cold for one session and the car acting like it was on roller skates. I am sure that has EVERYTHING to do with the fact we are trying to carry around a 3700 pound car around a road course. May if we were under 3K weight then 24PSI might work alot better. I DUNNO. The second thing I tried was to turn traction control completely off. Now THAT was a bad idea also. Just to make it more difficult on myself I tried BOTH 24PSI and traction control OFF at the same time in the same session. I came back in after ONE lap and make air and traction control adjustments. My FASTEST lap of the day running CLOCKWISE on Eagles Canyon Raceway today was during my last session and it was a 2.08. There were TWO other EXPERT LEVEL RED drivers that were faster than me at 2.05. SO all in all I was very happy with that. The CLOCKWISE direction is 2-4 seconds SLOWER than the more traditional COUNTER-CLOCKWISE direction on this track, THis was the first time I have raced with the SCCA folks and it was well run.
