I'm not expecting to see my car before Christmas at the earliest. As I understand it, once the vehicle is built, delivery typically takes 4-6 weeks.

GM has virtually every one of their factories down starting next week, so that is probably a very strong indicator of how few chips, etc. they have available. It seems pretty likely that the downtime will be extended, so I'm not going to get too excited yet and if my car is delivered sometime in the spring I'll be happy.

Thanks, I’ll give that a try!

Having finally gotten an allocation after waiting since Feb, and changing to a '22 in June, I couldn't agree more! I'm just happy to have it accepted and given a TPW (9/27), even if it gets moved back a bit at least I'm finally past 1100.

Someday we will have our Camaros and it will be amazing

Y'all are the most faithful crowd, good luck with your orders everyone. Hope this shortage won't last nearly as long as some predict and you get to enjoy your new Camaros soon.

Not gonna lie I almost jumped ship a few times and bought something else but just kept circling back to Camaro. With a TPW of 9/27 I have hope to see my car before Christmas.

I can tell you what you order and with whom (a competent experienced dealer like Joe) is more important then when you order. I placed an order back in mid May for a 2022, the order was still accepted by GM for the first week of production (8/17). As it stands, the car is built and being dispatched soon. So, mid-May to to mid-Sept is 4 months of wait, and in reality, about a month since the beginning of 2022 production. Contrast those that are still waiting on a 2021 with an order from 6+ months ago. Of course, there are variables you can't control....plant shutdowns, chip shortages, and even GM's decision to devote chips to new 2022 builds over 2021s that have been sitting in lots for months waiting for them.

I did yes, but didn’t initially understand, nor could anyone have known, how the supply chain was going to disintegrate in spring of ‘21. Looking back with COVID and it’s effect it’s easy to understand, but at the time not so much. Then factor in switching to a new model year, the production changes (‘22 production was initially supposed to start in June) and it has been a very strange year for sure. You almost have to just write off the time from mid-March to mid-June, because nothing happened for anyone during that time.

TBH, I’d rather be in my spot than some of the folks on these forums who had a ‘21 build back in Feb. or very early March, that were built shy and still waiting on a chip. I think GM f’d up there and those people are going to be seriously disenfranchised… Delivering any ‘22s before the complete the built shy cars seems very wrong in my mind, even if I may benefit from it.

Delivery once built is more like 8-10 weeks. My car was built the week of July 16th or atleast when I found out through Joe and the ETA for delivery is 9/18/2021. I will let you know when it arrives. Joe is the man by the way!!!!

It’s crazy these delivery times guys are seeing here. My dad ordered his C8 in the beginning of April and the car was built on 8/4 and loaded on the truck 8/6 and at the dealership here is SoCal the evening of the 12th and took delivery the 13th. Now I just need my order allocated so I can get a TPW. Haha

I agree. Sure, I want my car in my preferred timeframe but how can you not feel for those that ordered 2021 cars well before me possibly waiting longer? That’s not right. This can’t end soon enough….
